Hello I have a complicated question, I'll try to state it in the simplest way I can.
I currently have a laptop running Hardy Heron (pure Linux machine). and WINE. It has an AMD 64 bit core but an ATI graphics card. Wine will install PC games just fine, but when I try to run a game (like Tales of Pirates or Guild Wars for example) It will bring up the loading screen, load the game but just as

I am running R on Ubuntu Heron.
I recently updated to R 2.8.0 from the default (2.6) in the Ubuntu heron
repository by adding
deb http://cran.stat.sfu.ca/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy/
I updated all packages installed in /usr/lib/R/site-library and those in
my home directory /home/duncan/R/i486-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.6
without obvious issues. I installed adehabitat and gpclib, which should

Wine failure logs
I'm experimenting with Wine under Kubuntu Hardy Heron, on a former Vista laptop (boy, does it run noticeably faster on Linux). The deal is that my son wants to move to Linux on his desktop, but still have access to particular games that he plays. The laptop is the testbed. Before trying to install any of the games, I tried out three applications that I find useful, Orbitron, Country Codes and

Serious problems with Wine o__O
Well, my OS is Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, so you can keep track.
I used Wine to be able to use Photoshop CS2, but there was a little setback. I reinstalled Wine and Photoshop several times and now even though I install it, it just wont work, nor open any .exe files. Also I don't know why I removed the Wine menu (Applications>Wine) from the tab and no matter what I do, it's not comming

Need help Upgrading to R version >=v2.11 on Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04 LTS)
Hi,
I'd like to use ggplot2, which I think works best on some R release >=v2.11
or so. However, with Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS, 'aptitude' packages show
me only a version for 2.6. Can I install more recent version on this Ubuntu
version, and if so, what is the most painless way to do this (is there some
way to use 'aptitude'? Can I download a binary? Do I have to

All Wine dialog boxes have the mouse symbol out of position
I've just installed Wine.
Every Wine dialog box/window, on mouseOver, jumps the mouse cursor left and up, but sends mouse clicks to where the mouse would/should be.
In other words, when I roll the mouse over any Wine box, the arrow symbol immediately moves left and up, then subsequently moves in relation to how I move the mouse, until the original mouse location exits the dialog box, when the

wine git hardy systray issue
I'm totally stumped. I'm running Hardy Heron and wine from git (I just
updated about 3 hours ago) and I'm having the systray issue where wine apps
in the systray just show up as blank space and you cannot interact with the
systray icon.
This issue was supposedly fixed in 0.9.60 and backported into the Hardy
repos, but no matter what I do I can't get it fixed. I've tried the

How do I set up Steam?
I just set up Ubuntu Hardy Heron on my Compaq Presario C712nr laptop, and I was hoping that someone could help me to set up Steam so that it will fully function. I have previously tried this, yet was unable to get the Steam Community working properly with its chat functions and such. This was a real dealbreaker for me, as Steam Community is my primary social networking service.

Running Portable Photoshop with Wine
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to Linux and anything having to do with it. I'm actually trying to solve a friend's problem. My apologies if anything I'm about to say turns out to be grossly ignorant...
My friend is running Kubuntu on a Aspire One that has about 500 megs of space on it, most of which is taken up by the OS I'm assuming. She seems to have less than
