different iso's
I am wondering if there are any plans to release a large dvd iso
of the centos distribution? dvd burners are taking off and this
would be a good addition. Instead of three cd iso's one big dvd iso.

Install Trouble
I've download the 4 CD ISO images from 3 different mirrors, tried
burning the ISO's on different computers, and I still get the same
errors.
When I go to boot up with the CD1, I eventually get a Call Trace and
then a kernel panic: not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt. It
points to the CDROM or the CD itself. I can boot up with Knoppix and
Mepis fine. The other odd thing is

DVD Burner
I've purchased an LG DVD Burner (GSA-E60L) External super Multi DVD Rewiter
for my PE2950 Dell Server attached via USB.
Can someone guide me to set up the DVD with Linux, and which tools should I
use to burn DVD?

DVD burner in WINE
I have a program, ProShow Producer, that works flawlessly in WINE, but I need to use a DVD burner in it. The program will only export the DVD slideshows to a disc, not an image, so I need to be able to use the burner or somehow fake it and save to an image. Does anyone know how I can either get the burner working or (ideally) fake the burner and create an image instead??
Thanks so much for the

Using cdrecord on CentOS
Hi,
I'd like to use cdrecord on the command line. I'm currently reading the
relevant chapter in Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook". Unfortunately,
some of the tricks and hints included in the book don't seem to work the
same way on a standard CentOS 5 install.
1) Am I supposed to be root to use cdrecord and burn an .iso file?
2) How do I specify a device?

Cross Network Based CD/DVD Burning Software
Hey friends,
I am using FC3 and Centos 4.0 at my home. I have one CD/DVD burner on
Centos4.0 and no CD/DVD burner on FC3 machine. I am looking for a free
client & server or cross network CD/DVD burning software something
like NeroNet available on Windows. Means on the one workstation(FC3)
the client software for CD/DVD burning will be installed, through this
client software the data to be

Using CD drives with Xen 3.0.3 on CentOS 4.4
I''d like to be able to use a CD drive on the Dom0 to be accessible on
the DomU systems. I do see some notes involving cdrom drives in the Xen
3.1 Enterprise notes, and in the VT notes, but not for systems without
that on-board virtualization feature. And the syntax of the cdrom
command options are documented nowhere in 3.0.3.
I found completely useless notes at

Setting CDROM parms
My apologies in advance for asking such an elementary question. I
called myself searching the Installation Guide and Deployment Guide,
with no success.
The situation is that I bought a Lite-On ATAPI iHAP122 that will not
burn DVDs unless I use hdparm to turn dma off. I bought that drive
because it was a rare beige drive. Until I can find a decent DVD burner
and/or get a Windows machine put

FLAC CD Archive
Hi,
Bit late to join in the discussion but I've just read through the CD
archiving discussion and was particular interested in Dax's method,
described here (also included below):

So far I've just been flac-ing my CDs to individual one-flac-per-track
files, however it appears I've been missing some of the other bits

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under
CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had
some success, in fact most of this usually works.
I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly
well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when
it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but

What´s the best way to have my DVD-R/RW burner working in a DomU? Just
''phy:hdc, hdc,w'' would do it? or there´s some other way?
thanks in advance,

I am trying to install windows 10 (dreamspark education ISO) into
qemu-kvm on Gentoo linux.
I got past the cpu problems but am stuck on the image file drivers.
The relevant xml is below. It asks for the driver disk which I have,
but if I select a driver (either vioscsi or viostor which show as valid
it churns away for a few seconds and brings up the cant find driver
dialog and cant progress.

Problem with gnome with file type recognition.
I have a problem with some file recognition with gnome (CentOS 5.2).
I have some DVD with AVI files I burn some time ago (and the files were
checked and the DVD are fine), and curiously only the 3 or 4 first files
were recognized as AVI files, but the rest not!.
I another times, appears to recognize all files, but from some days to now
I have this problem (specially with AVI files).

Automatic logoff, kickoff time, etc.
Hello. I am in the process of setting up a home network where 2 of the users
will be kids. Because of this, I have decided that it would be nice to have
a login time restriction for thier XP workstations, as well as an automatic
logoff time. This can be done with any Windows domain controller, and I've
had halfway luck with Samba.
What I've done so far... I've gotten Samba to use PAM

problems with burning i386 centos 6 dvd
Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for the CentOS 6 distro. I am having trouble burning the i386
dvds. I tried on a RHEL 6 deskop and also a CentOS 5 laptop. The command I
am running on both systems is this:
growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z
/dev/sr0=/home/gsgatlin/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD.iso
The error I am seeing is:

ftp issue in Centos 5.3
I manage a small server that I back up weekly. I do this by making a
tarball of relevant files then transferring it over the local subnet
to my station (Fedora 11), whereupon I burn it to DVD. There is no
optical burner on the server. The tarball amounts to a bit under 5
gigs. Recently I've started getting an error telling me to try PASV or
PORT first. I use the gFTP client on my

iso size?
I've been being told, over and over, by K3B, Brasero, and
Isomaster, on two machines, with three different downloads of 6.0, that
the file is too large for the medium. Nautilus and the browser that die
each download all say it's 4.4 GB; I've tried with two +R and an RW DVD,
all of which are labelled 4.7 GB Two of the files are 32-bit, and one is
