Why is wine not prepackaged on the download site
the reason that the x11 for macintosh being broken is insufficient as a cause for not having a package on the download site. the darwine source cvs repository does not carry a version on it. i personally cannot compile the source for my computer. i can install xfree86, though. if this fixes the x11 problem, considering that most people can achieve this, should there not be updated packages along

I run the wine helper application and tried to open some of the sample applications that came with it. No matter what I try to open from the sample windows application folder that came with the program I get the same error

does WINE run on MAC OS and OpenVMS
Hi all, I have two queries regarding WINE. 1) Is there support for VMS(OpenVMS) and MAC OS in WINE. I mean that can I install/build WINE over OpenVMS OS and MAC OS. 2) I have heard that WINE doesnot have support for WIN64 bit API's. Is this true that I cannot port WIN64 applications via WINE on Linux 64 bit. If this is possible for anyone among you then plz list the name of all the OS where

Darwine issues
I am trying to use darwine 1.1.7 on 10.5.5 and am having issues. I downloaded the package from thisismyinter.net and is doesn't run anything, including the sample winelib applications. However, when I use the version from http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ it runs just fine. I have XQuartz 2.3.1 as well. This started recently, I can't remember what did it. Here is a link to the output when

regedit.exe notepad.exe and other wine substitutes
Hi, Wine provides a variety of applications in the programs/ dir. this include notepad, regedit, regapi, aviplay, ... This programs (AFAIK) implements the windows equivalent of their .exe with winelib. However, some applications try to run c:\windows\regedit.exe, notepad.exe and fail. My question is, in a windows free environment, if I rename those applications (to a .exe extension and its .so

Naturally speaking under wine help needed
[[apologies if this is a dupe. gmane is a bit odd sometimes]] I need some help on a handicap accessibility project. It's really great for people like me that naturally speaking is working in wine (mostly). One important shortcoming is getting our dictated text into linux. Today, in order to copy text from the wine environment and place it in the Linux environment, we need to dictate into

Noob problems with Darwine
I've installed darwine 1.1.9 on my mac. I've read all of the tutorials and forums that I could find but I'm still not able to solve my problem. I imagine I must be missing something that's so obvious that it doesn't even make its way into a tutorial. I can't run programs. If I start winehelper and try to run a program (say regedit.exe) I get the errors at the end of

scrollbar does not stop/function correctly
This is in multiple programs. I am running wine1.0-rc-1. The program notepad-plus and open perl ide have this problem. The problem is when i scroll the text field scrolls all the way to the bottom, or to the top. If I only move on the mouse pad a little bit then it work, but to have any speed I use the scroll arrow by themselves or with the function key to go down screen by screen. Also the Alt

Wine's Notepad
This may be a stupid question, but does anybody know why the Wine version of notepad won't run on Windows? I get the error that it is not a valid Win32 application when I try to run it. Shouldn't it be able to run in Windows or Wine seamlessly? The Microsoft version of notepad runs in both, so what's special (or not) about Wine notepad? John

Can I use Winelib to port commercial application whose sources will be not disclosed ? 2. Is it possible to link Winelib statically with an application and distribute it ? 3. In case that I

I would want to make it run natively on Linux. You can't. Winelib still requires Wine to run it. It's a library not an executable. If you want to write native Linux application that can run by itself

All Wine's programs are winelib (notepad, wordpad, winecfg, etc). Go ahead and run then directly (without Wine). Again I'm not talking about a binfmt magic with witch you can run even java programs "directly".

Wine HQ in Macosx
Hi I started to work with a new platform: MacOSX Leopard 10.5.4.0 (coming from Ubuntu-Linux) and I tried to use Wine HQ with some XP programs that they worked successfully in Ubuntu with WH. Now, actually, they work fine as well in MacOSX (so congratulations) however, I remember that in Linux I was able to create a link from my desktop to run directly the application and now I do not know how to
