Blank certain areas of a contour plot
Hi,
I'm interpolating a list of syncronous accumulated precipitation
observations collected over a number of raingauge stations sited over
land, over a regular lat/lon grid using akima's interp().
Then, I plot and locate geographycally the resulting field with a
filled.contour() and a call to map(). Everything is fine but I need to

several bugs (PR#918) lists and matrices
### I got bit again by the same bugs I wrote about a year ago.
### The bugs are related to matrices and arrays of lists.
### 1. There is a clear inconsistency in how R handles two
### functionally equivalent statements.
### array() is able to take a list and create a matrix.
### matrix() is unable to create that matrix.

Plotting a kriging on a map
Hi list,
Well, this time I’ve a doubt with mapping generation.
I was already able to read and plot shapefiles, plot point on this map. All
this without any problems, but now I want to do something that I think, only
Golden Software Surfer is capable of.
I would like to plot a kriging result on the existing map (map script
below). Well I looked for on the net, but I was not able to be sure of

Not getting new mail notification
Hey all,
I'm having no luck getting new mail notification except in two mail
folders (using maildir w/procmail delivery). I'm using three different
clients (sylpheed-claws 1.9.14, Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 and a newer version
of Horde). None of them are getting new mail in any except these two
folders (inbox and 1 other). If I browse to the folders, still nothing.

IMAP4rev1 broken with evolution
Hi,
I'm running 1.0rc6 on Solaris/SPARC, compiled myself against openssl.
Client is Evolution 2.6.2 on my gentoo x86 laptop.
As Dovecot is not yet productive, we run it parallel to UW-imap, on
other ports. I use TLS.
If I configure my evolution client with server-type IMAP, everything
works fine. However, dovecot claims IMAP4rev1 support. However, when I
set server-type to IMAP4rev1 in

Hi,
Setup : Apple Mail 2.1.1 (752.3) on Intel MacBook Pro and Dovecot

Missing SDLT600's
Hi All,
I have a CentOS5.2 server using a Qlogic QLE220 HBA, connected to
Quantum DX30 and M1800 libraries via a Qlogic SANbox 5600 switch. I've
installed the latest (v8.02.14) drivers from Qlogic for the HBA
The issue I have is I am missing 2 of the 4 SDLT drives provided by the
M1800 Library. The DX30 provides 6 drives, which are listed in dmesg
and assigned /dev/st0->5. I would

command line R; readline history
Hello,
I need help now. I installed R in my Solaris 5.8 box. But two things I am
missing comparing to my old Splus.
1. I used to invoke a command edit Splus by type "Splus -e". So I can surfer
in Splus like ksh environment. Can I do the same in R?
2. I used BSD version of R, which I can use "up" key to call back last
command. But in Sun, I can't make it happened. I

Same number for each caller, but should reach different zap-channels, how?
Easy questions for you guys probably,
I'd like to serve 10 parallell incoming calls at the same time, so I bought a lot of Zap-channel cards for analog phone lines.
But I want all users to be able to use the same phone number to dial in, but I want the number to be switched to an avaiable zap-channel.
Do I need some kind of switch for this?
It sounds reasonable, but I'm not sure. :)

Lattice: How to do error bars
I am trying to add 2 stdev error bars to lattice type plots:
panel.ebar<-function(x,y,dy=NULL,...) {
panel.xyplot(x,y,...)
panel.segments(x,y-dy,x,y+dy,...)
}
Then:
xyplot(y~x|fc,data=dat,dy=dat$dy,panel=panel.ebar)
This adds error bars but they are not conditioned on the factor fc.
xyplot(y+I(y-dy)+I(y+dy)~x|fc,data=dat)
This produces 3 series of points in different colors, conditioned

Backup and restore for CentOS 5.5
Hi - I have a NFS/NIS server environment running CentOS 5.5 on a Dell
Optiplex 240. I would like to back it up and then move it to a new
machine. Couple of questions:
1. This is an older computer Dell Optiplex 240 that I am unable to
connect a USB drive to. In the "linux rescue" environment fdisk -l shows
only /dev/hda but lsusb shows the three partitions that are on the
drive. I

The time has come to review the current Contributor and Core contributor
