Re: running 16 bit real mode executables on mac
Hey guys, i know this post is old, but i'm also having the same problem. I'm trying to compile MASM 6.1.5 programs in wine, and using ml.exe compiles and links everything perfectly and outputs a .exe file with no complaints. Then, when i try and run the program it give me an error like Code: fixme:module:__wine_load_dos_exe DOS executables not supported on this platform winevdm:

[LLVMdev] Unable to compile .s files generated with llc.
Hey, I've been trying this for a couple days now, finding different assemblers and trying different options but I can't figure it out.. I must be missing something very obvious. I got a simple "hello world" app in llvm, making the .bc file using 'llvm-as test.llvm -o=test.bc' works fine. then I can use llvm-ld to make an executable which then runs fine (although not

Re: Window Scrolling on OSX
Thanks for working on it regardless, all these compiling issues are beyond most of us. Everything is "easy" or "manageable" to fix as long as you know how! I don't know if it's available via Macports, but I imagine Darwine is rather tweaked for the Mac beyond merely being a straight port, I don't know if Macports would throw up similar compiler issues. I received

Trying to run really old Macromedia Director game
Hello, I have wine v1.1.10 installed from portage on a Gentoo x86_64 box running KDE 3.5.9 and Linux kernel 2.6.27-gentoo-r7. Wine built cleanly and the included apps (iexplore.exe, notepad.exe, explorer.exe, winhlp32.exe regedit.exe and even cmd.exe) all run fine. Networking works with no trouble in iexplore.exe. I am very impressed with this app. I tested multimedia by downloading and

mvabund package: errors using manyglm() and meanvar.plot()
Dear R users, I am trying to analyze multivariate abundance data using the mvabund package, but errors occur for several functions. I created a mvabund object named faunadat consisting of 8 dependent variables each containing 64 positive integer values (bact, fung, plant, omn, pred, orib, meso, spring). There are 4 factors: harv, rep, depth and lit. I then created a formula: >

running command line apps without X-Windows
I'm interested in running some command-line binaries, specifically the Microsoft compilers and linkers, on Mac OS X. WINE (more specifically Darwine) would seem to be a step in the right direction. It seems to me that since these kinds of programs have limited interaction with the operating system, they stand a good chance of running well within WINE. However, WINE seems to be oriented more

Firefox 3 Darwine Errors
Just completed a fresh install of Darwine 1.0b and Xquartz to fix some application issues and discovered when I downloaded and installed the Windows version of Firefox I get the following series of errors. This is a partial log since the errors just continue as long as Firefox is open until either WineHelper crashes or Firefox crashes. I have manually downloaded Flash from the adobe site, it

Is it possible to port (part of) WINE to iOS?
Since Apple's Mac X and iOS share the same kernel -- Darwin. And WINE has port for Mac X. Is it possible to port (part of) WINE to iOS? For example, "winbase.h", etc.

Is DOSBox replacing native DOS support in Wine?
I haven't followed Wine in quite a while, other than to do an occasional update (but hopefully this will change). I noticed DOSBox support was added in January 2011. My understanding is that when Wine can't even attempt to run DOS programs itself (MAC OSX, 64bit OSes, etc) that it will attempt to run using DOSBox. Is this correct? Is the plan to replace native Wine DOS support across the

Civilization 2 Install Problem
The install is an .exe which must be run in windows, but the actual program requires DOS support. Should I install a windows version of dosbox in wine and then run dosbox in wine and have my windows dosbox run the .exe? And yes, Linux dosbox cant run it.

Winevdm launchs a second, unwanted black window.
Hello, A couple of years ago I installed Wine on my Ubuntu 8.04 in order to be able to run Winisis, the Unesco program for managing library databases. Everything worked fine, until I decided to upgrade the Ubuntu. Now that I have wine 1.2 installed on a Ubuntu 10.04, I am experiencing the following problem. Each time I run Winisis, Winevdm launchs a second, black window. You may say it is not a

Lack of DOS support in wine
I am curious how come Wine has no direct support for DOS but has support for Windows 2,3 & 95 (which required DOS for their installation). I think of Wine as an utility to run legacy software and DOS compromises a big chunk of it. I know I can use Dosbox but it would be better for the end user if one program could run in linux all software made for m$. As a bonus, Dosbox also is open source,

Mounting DOSBOX on a remote share
It is probably not strictly related to SAMBA itself but let me try to ask you for advice. Using smbmount I have mounted one of smb/cifs share to /root/test. This share has RW access and no authentication is required. Now, under DOSBox, whenever I try to mount /root/test I get this error (command sent under DOSBox: mount c /root/test). Directory /root/test doesn't exist. Any other directories,

Wine sometime really surprise me
Software as Application, can always find a replacement. (Well most of the time) But Software as Games, there is good chance that you will never find a replacement. They are their own unique Art. (Classical games is another story, such as chess, and those "public domain") In order words, doesn't matter how old a game might be. it will not get obsolesce. When it come to
