Problem access a directory
I am trying to get ListPro from Ilium Software to register. According to their tech support, it needs to write a file out to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ilium Software\ListPro However, the error the program gives is "Registation Information could not be saved". I created the directory within the drive_c directory. I have also verified the spelling of the sub

Disappearing Text
Hi- I recently upgraded my workstation, and in the process upgraded Wine and X.org to the latest stable versions. Wine works fine for all my apps. with one annoying exception. Text is not properly displayed in ListPro (iliumsoft). ListPro is a hierarchical list manager that syncs with Palm Pilot. The problem is that only the first line of text is displayed in the notes pane. The rest of the

utf-8 in Wine
I'm using wine-0.9.33 on Ubuntu. I have a Windows app, ListPro, that runs fine. However, I cannot type in Hebrew- I get "Swedish vowels" when I try to use the Hebrew keyboard layout. Previously saved files with Hebrew display fine. What can I do to enable Hebrew typing? Thanks in advance. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il

Remapping port below 1024 on the firewall
I give up and need help! I won''t add to the confusion by showing all the combinations I have tried unsuccessfully... and yes, I''ve read FAQ2 and FAQ2a many times! When googling the subject of this post there are many answers that boil down to using the same three iptables rules, two of which use nat. I won''t repeat them here. I don''t want to risk mixing

Hi, I have servers where shorewall6 won''t reject nor log: # cat /etc/shorewall6/zones fw firewall net ipv6 # cat /etc/shorewall6/interfaces net eth1 tcpflags (I also tried without "tcpflags", but no changes) # cat /etc/shorewall6/policy $FW all ACCEPT all all REJECT info # cat /etc/shorewall6/rules SECTION NEW (for testing, I removed all the rules) I am testing from

TCCLASSES vs Providers
Hi, I want to configure QoS in my shorewall conf but I have a doubt. Now I am using tcrules with prerouting and with the file providers, like this. 2:P 192.168.0.11 0.0.0.0/0 tcp 25 So, with this way I route my smtp traffic with my provider number 2. Well, now I want to configure QoS with tcclasses and tcdevices, but if I do that I need to use the MARK in the tcclasses So, how

xtables-addons+iptables-1.4.1+
Hi all, We are trying to upgrade to iptables 1.4.1+ however the ipp2p module now it is included in the xtables-addons modules. In the xtables-addons modules the commad line for ipp2p is changed and the -m ipp2p --ipp2p option is not supported anymore .... instead the maintainer requires that we use -m ipp2p --bit ... -m ipp2p --kaza for each different P2P protocol. as a result shorewall does

openvpn restart fails with dual entry in conntrack and wrong sourceport
the establishment of an openvpn link sometimes fails. I tracked it down to network traffic with wrong Sourceport in the answer packet (should be 1300 not 1024): 2 1.119309000 aaa.185.165 bbb.162.192 UDP 58 Source port: 1300 Destination port: 1300 3 1.119446000 bbb.162.192 aaa.185.165 UDP 66 Source port: 1024 Destination port: 1300 and a collateral entry in the connection tracking table

Shields-Up Scan of Shorewall Firewall
Guys, After i got the port forwarding and everything else working as per my previous post, i ran a shields-up scan from grc.com on the firewall, i.e. a scan of the external interface. I m a little suprised at the results. On the firewall i have postfix running ( smtp port 26 ), openssh ( ssh port 22) and port forwarding of port 85 (on the firewall ) to an internal host. The Shields-Up scan

Hi, <new_listmember_intro> Name: Melvyn Sopacua Occupation: WebMaster Age: 32 Location: Netherlands </new_listmember_intro> after quite some digging, the user experience mentioned in brackets above, turned out to be ipv6 resolving problems. Hub/Spoke OpenVPN can't communicate from Client A to Client B - FORWARD:REJECT:IN=tun0 OUT=tun0
Hi, I am running OpenVPN where i have one central hub VPN server, and multiple spoke VPN clients. I can ping from each client to the server and each client to computers on the subnet which the server resides (192.168.2.0/24) so it works ok there. I cannot however, ping from one client to another client. I guess the packet path would go: clienta -> vpn -> shorewall/router -> vpn ->

Weird Error when Adding ShareThis Hovering Buttons to Rails
Hi all, I am trying to add the ShareThis Hovering buttons to my Rails 3 application but have no luck. I got the embed code from http://sharethis.com/publishers/get-hovering-buttons. In order to prove that the problem is specific to Rails, I put the same code into a HTML file outside the rails app and also a pure HTML file inside the public directory (without routed to controller) of my rails app.

[LLVMdev] Improving the usability of LNT
Hi Daniel, I made some changes to the LNT perf reporting tool to make it more user friendly by adding some features: 1. Make the sidebar and the navigation bar stationary, so that it is easy to navigate the site 2. Have the pop-down menu for the items in the navigation bar, activate upon hovering the mouse, rather than clicking the item 3. Add a nav-link in the sidebar for the

FTP DNAT not working - "Server sent passive reply with unroutable address"
Hi all! I am a long time lurker, but have not posted until now. My old trusted firewall machine broke a couple of weeks ago and I replaced it with a XEN domU that is using DNAT and has two interfaces. The firewall domU and the FTP server domU are both guests on the same dom0. All three machines are running Debian/etch (stable) and Shorewall has version 3.2.6. I can''t get FTP to work

Rsync rules for Shorewall
Hi folks, I''m having an issue with rsync between my firewall and an internal box. It seems to be a shorewall issue (or correctly speaking, an issue with my shorewall config) because if I disable shorewall my rsync works fine. And I just can''t find it documented anywhere what I need to do. I have rules like this : root@userver:/etc/shorewall# grep -i Rsync rules

ERROR: Log level INFO requires LOG Target in your kernel and iptables
Hi, I have 2 Debian testing boxes running a very similar setup (both running the latest aptosid kernel); on one of them, since the iptables/libxtables10 packages have been upgraded from 1.4.19.1-1 to 1.4.20-2, shorewall-init can''t start shorewall anymore and for this reason ifupdown also fails triggering firewall up. Shorewall can be successfully started later on, and ifupdown starts

shorewall dynamic zones confusion
Hi, I''ve been successfully using shorewall in our K12 school since the 2.x days initially on Mandrake and now on Debian. Because of that my config has got quite complicated. The firewall has a working MultiISP setup with four interfaces (I''ve renamed them with udev to easy their identification): lan-if, dmz-if, snt-if and dnt-if (one of the providers (the one on dnt-if) is a DSL
