Unable to access Debian repository.
Yesterday evening, I became unable to access http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/ . This has firstly become inaccessible to me for the purpose of finding out from the Web pages, whether version 0.9.59 has been adapted as binaries for Debian yet, which I personally need as a user of Kanotix, because the whole index can't be called up. But in addition right now, an 'apt-get update' fails

Bryce 5.5 once ran, before update.
In the application database, there is a revue according to which Bryce 5.5 does not run under WINE. But not having looked at the AppDB first, I went ahead and installed Bryce 5.5 some months ago, which ran fine under WINE 0.9.44 or some such version... Here is an old screenshot of the app, which has been used to render a tree on the Linux Box. (Kanotix 2006-RC4) [Image:

Best Linux distibution for ruby on rails developement?
Hi, I am on Kanotix linux since the first distribution was released by Kano. However I am tired of the "if it can go wrong it will go wrong on Kanotix" pattern. Please recommend a distribution that by your experience is best for ruby on rails development and need no hour-long tweacks for even "simple" tasks. Thanks, Jan Martin -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Samba 3.0.23c-1 breaks my home network
Samba 3.0.23 on debian breaks my eMac connection. I have a debian box and an eMac. I posted to my debian distro (Kanotix) and got this info: "Samba upstream has dropped a previously valid config option with their latest version and made every use of it throw an error. "passdb backend" supports only one argument anymore in /etc/samba/smb.conf. passdb backend = tdbsam (perhaps

0.9.60 Still doesn't do Bryce 5.5 correctly.
Just a few weeks ago, I reported a regression according to which Bryce 5.5 would at least display its application window correctly, until WINE v0.9.56 came along. Next, I posted here hoping that WINE developers would at least test Bryce themselves, to try working on this bug. And to that end, I had given a URL here, from which the application can be downloaded for free. It was due to my own

How much of Wine Explorer is functional?
I wanted to play music in VLC for Windows off a network SMB share. [*] Music's on \\red\trollop\music\ so I put that into VLC and it didn't like it. So I started "wine explorer" from the command line and went to "Connect network drive ..." and it came up with a dialogue box: "No network" - that's all. Is this actually supposed to work properly, or is

Printing - using WINE
Hello out there, perhaps anybody has some idea for my problem. I've had several nice successes with WINE. GoogleEarth e.g. or some of my old tools of the windows-times. Now yesterday I've sent my tax-declaration (in Germany: ElsterFormular) to the tax-administration, online. BUT: I couldn't print the declaration!! NOTHING at all happened. I havn't ever tried to print, it was not

winefile/explorer hardcoded ? HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\open\command ignored
Winefile seems to be hardcoded when it comes to opening folders. No matter what I do it always pops up. I tried deleting HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder and nothing changed. What can I do to convince wine to open folders with /usr/bin/nautilus ? I allready made it open ordinary files with gnome-open. -- Who logs in to gdm? Not I, said the duck.

annoying warnings in ESS/Emacs
Hi, I'm not sure if this is an R problem, a Debian problem, a GNU Emacs problem or an ESS problem. I get the following warning the first time I call help on a command in a session, for example: > ?sessionInfo Warning message: use of NULL environment is deprecated This only occurs in GNU Emacs, not when running R from bash, and not with Xemacs. It started happening when I updated R

Exploring Folders
Hi, my company develops Windows applications and we are trying to get them to work correctly under Wine. We have two outstanding issues 1. Toolbars - the generic icons do not list (ie STD_DELETE). Currently posted under Bugzilla 2. We provide menu links to open a folder using the Win32 API command ShellExecute(hwndDlg, NULL, szFolder, NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL); (szFolder is the folder

winefile vs wine problem
I am new to Linux and wine. I installed a program and it runs fine from inside winefile but when run from wine command line it only loads the main part of the program and the modules don't work. I have searched for an answer, but can't find one. What am I missing what is the difference between winefile and wine when starting an application? The reason for wanting to run from wine

Special Place for Wine's Programs?
Is there a special place for the programs that actually come with Wine (winefile, winecfg, Wine's notepad, Wine IE, etc.) like the AppDB, but just for them? Because I was wondering, say for example, someone found a bug in winefile. Where would the corresponding AppDB[oid] page be for winefile to attach that bug to? It would be nice to go to a page and see all the known bugs for such a

Newbie of course, and having trouble finding answers in the plethora of documents and forums. I can't seem to set up my config correctly so that my windows drives and cdrom are properly recognized by winefile. I put lines in for C - fake windows D- real windows E-cdrom P-Partition that has my windows based program files(this drive segfaults 139 depending on which way I go into it)
