understanding the output from gls
I'd like to compare two models which were fitted using gls, however I'm having trouble interpreting the results of gls. If any of you could offer me some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it. Short explanation of models: These two models have the same fixed-effects structure (two independent, linear effects), and differ only in that the second model includes a corExp structure for

Interpreting Asterisk Logs
Hi, Can anybody point me to an online resource that will assist with interpreting Asterisk log files? I note that a similar question was asked in this forum some time ago (http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2007-June/189793.html), which doesn't appear to have received any responses. On that occasion, the OP was seeking a log parser - I'm looking for more of a general

Couple of questions about the logs
The log entries for imap disconnection shows a "bytes = x/y" format where the x equals bytes sent from client and y equals bytes received from client. Can someone explain that a little better to me, please? In an imap account, does this "y" represent the size of the header information being returned to the client or the amount of data of the email mailbox? Also, is there

understand GEE output for wald test
Hi I'm having some difficulty understanding my output (below) from GEE. the person who wrote the program included some comments about the '3-th term gives diff between hyp/ox at time..', and after created an L vector to use for a WALD test. I was wondering if someone could help me understand the GEE output, the programmers comment, how L was determined, and its use in the WALD

How to understand output from R's polr function (ordered logistic regression)?
I am new to R, ordered logistic regression, and polr. The "Examples" section at the bottom of the help page for polr<http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-patched/library/MASS/html/polr.html>(that fits a logistic or probit regression model to an ordered factor response) shows options(contrasts = c("contr.treatment", "contr.poly")) house.plr <- polr(Sat ~ Infl +

interpreting the output of a glm with an ordered categorical predictor.
Greetings. I'm a Master's student working on an analysis of herbivore damage on plants. I have a tried running a glm with one categorical predictor (aphid abundance) and a binomial response (presence/absence of herbivore damage). My predictor has four categories: high, medium, low, and none. I used the "ordered" function to sort my categories for a glm. ah <-

R Output and ArcGIS
Dear all, I've been using R on a Mac to process some data for export to ArcMap GIS (which only runs on Windows). ArcMap seems to require tab-delimited data (my data are in 3 columns), so I've been using the sep="\t" argument. However, this resulted in strange end-of-line characters when displayed on a PC. I looked in the write.table help file to find that eol="\r\n"

What is the best way to have "R" output tables in an MS Word format?
Dear "R" list, Our statisticians usually give us results back in a PDF format. I would like to be able to copy and past tables from "R" output directly into a Microsoft Word table since this will save us tons of time, be more accurate to minimize human copying errors and help us update data in our papers more easily. Do people have suggestions for the best way to do this? I

envfit output (vegan package) - not sure what it means
I'm pretty new to R and would appreciate some help interpreting the output of a function that was recommended to me. I've used the *envfit *function in the vegan package to plot vectors of four climate variables onto a species matrix ordination. The output indicates that only a single variable (mean_temp) is significant: ***VECTORS NMDS1 NMDS2 r2

transforming output of grid.locator() to coordinates of a leaf viewport

Thanks in advance. -Ben Long form: I would like the user to be able to click anywhere on the R graphics window. I would then like to figure out which leaf viewport the user clicked in and compute the native

Interpretation of output from glm
I am fitting a logistic model to binary data. The response variable is a factor (0 or 1) and all predictors are continuous variables. The main predictor is LT (I expect a logistic relation between LT and the probability of being mature) and the other are variables I expect to modify this relation. I want to test if all predictors contribute significantly for the fit or not I fit the full

Trying to learn Wine and command lines
Hi, I'm new to Wine and command lines in general and I'm trying to learn how to use it. To start I installed the demo for Armageddon Empires (a seriously awesome game, check it out) and now I'm trying to run it. When I'm in my Wine program files I can see a folder called Cryptic Comet (makers of Armageddon Empires) but when I try to cd or any other command to get to the Cryptic
