Wine on Fedora Core 4: Street Atlas 8 & wineconsole issues
I just did a fresh installation of Fedora Core 4, using my home
directories from FC3, including my .wine.
In the FC3 environment, I had used winetools to install. I did not
want to do a fresh installation of wine, just use an RPM that would
work. Alas, I had to fall back to 20041201.
SA 8:
I installed and uninstalled wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm,

Fedora Core 5 Wine newbie
Hello,
I installed wine via 'yum install wine' from my command prompt on a new
install of Fedora Core 5 (everything was updated via yum before I
attempted this), and everything went well with that. Then, when I
tried to install a game that I saw was in gold status on the apps db,
it went through a list of fonts and installed them or something, but it
wont install the game. The CD is

Wine on Fedora Core 2
I'm running Wine 0.9.2 on FC2, I was under the impression that this was
the latest stable version, but I did some looking around and found that
it's simply the latest version with official RPMs from the wine
project.
Is there a reason the RH/FC packages have not been updated in over half
a year? Is there just a new place where I should be getting them from?

Problem using Quicken 2002, Fedora core 3, various Wine versions
We are experiencing an odd problem when using the combination of Quicken
2002, Fedora core 3, and Wine version 20050111 for fedora core 1.
When we open the "Split Transaction Window", the window appears to go
into an event loop. We are able to eventually break the loop by
clicking on the drop down window menu. Sometimes it will break out with
the window correctly sized, sometimes it

Master of Orion 2 hangs when run in Wine 0.9.17 under Fedora Core 5
I recently installed Fedora Cora 5 (2.6.17-1.2157_FC5) on my PC, and
then installed Wine (0.9.17) from the Fedora yum repository. I then
installed Master of Orion II, and tried to run it. It started OK, but
as soon as I moved the mouse, it seemed to hang. My keyboard and mouse
stopped working, and the only way I could break out was to hit
Ctrl-Alt-Del and log out. I tried this repeatedly, and

Wine, Fedora Core 4 and Act!
Newbie here, but have been running wine for a while with various programs.
Anyway, I am trying to get Act! 7 (Act! 2005) to run under wine. Has anyone
had any success with this? I get messages that file and print sharing need
to be enabled. Any help or pointing in the right direction is appreciated.
Thanks.

First off, that's now 2 strikes for me. Small ones considering the context
well outside of the points, but still it hurts my credibility.
This is one of the things I hate about meta-discussions, at least how I
approach them. Sometimes I just need to learn

[OT] Red Hat binary compatibility, from Red Hat Linux 4.0 to Fedora Core 3 (and RHEL4) ...
I wrote part of a FAQ last November, and if you're interested in the
breakdown of GCC, GLibC and kernel adoption since Red Hat Linux 4.0,
you'll want to read this:
http://www.geocities.com/thebs413/RH-Distribution-FAQ-3.html
I've been loosely working on a "Linux Configuration Management" book
covering Red Hat distributions since. I might update this FAQ if I have

Desiring to set up Windows Vista and Linux Fedora Core 4 Samba
Gary,
SWAT is neato! This is a wonderful summarizing and helping tool! I
didn't know about it at all!
(I had to set disable to no and enable it via xinetd, but then my
localhost:901 works great!!)
I'm going to look it over and try to regain at least the basic
understanding I got of Samba many years ago when I configured my Windows
98! I believe it will go faster with

How do you assert that? It has _nothing_ to do with my statement.
You keep thinking there is this absolute "black/white" on why developers,
vendors, etc... do this or that. There are reasons
