Killed compiz & pulseaudio. What else might cause problems?
I was reading some recent posts and noticed our esteemed moderator suggested that compiz and pulseaudio might interfere with the proper running of wine, so I killed them. RIP. Are there any other common Linux daemons that might be running in the background interfering with wine or applications running under wine?
I did some searching and did not find a discussion about this particular topic.

Database Foreign Key - Basic question
Hi all
I''m still waiting on my Agile Rails book to arrive - in the meantime ...
As an exercise I''m making a Help Desk application.
If I have a Problems table with two foreign keys to a People table,
how do I set up my models, problems_controller list method, and then
simply display say my problem submitter person? Here is what I have so
far:

Counter Strike: Source. Crashes upon joining game.
Hi. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and wine 0.9.60.
I have got loads of steam apps to run including team fortress 2. However, when I join a game in Counter Strike: Source, as soon as I get to the team select, it freezes up, with the gunshot sounds repeating.
It then simply closes.
I looked on appdb and the main causes are alsa sound, and to make sure only alsa sound is selected in winecfg. I also

Mailing list playing catch up with anyone else?
Last night it seemed like the mailing list was playing catchup, as I got a
flood of emails from the past few days. Has anyone else seen this?

Bug#684661: Xen BUG at pci_amd_iommu.c:33
Hi Wei,
A Debian user has hit this message and reported it in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684661
I think it is the BUG_ON in:
struct amd_iommu *find_iommu_for_device(int bdf)
{
BUG_ON ( bdf >= ivrs_bdf_entries );
return ivrs_mappings[bdf].iommu;
}
It looks like ivrs_bdf_entries comes from ACPI. Unfortunately the bug

[LLVMdev] regression: double spaced asm output for thumb-2
It doesn't break the assembler... but it is wrong... and ugly... and
many other adjectives. I isolated the change and let the submitter know.

Sound Randomly stops while playing The Sims 3
While in game the sound randomly stops, I then have to kill the pulseaudio in order to fix the issue. I'm using the Wine 1.4 RC5 package on Linux Mint 12 (Lisa).

Miroslav's patches have always been high-quality for sure.? But regardless of submitter, any patch that affects encoding must be reviewed very carefully, preferably by several other people and definitely me.? If there were ever a libFLAC release that had a bug and was not always

Legal questions with jCIFS 0.8.2
I work for IBM and our developers have used jCIFS 0.8.2 in our product. We
are now going through legal approval and have some questions.
If people submit code changes to your product, do you find out if the
submitter has the right to distribute the code? If so, do they need to
sign any kind of statement?
I couldn't find version 0.8.2 on your web site. The legal question is
