404 error on Wine update (Ubuntu Hardy)
My automatic updates popped up with a new Wine this morning and when I told it to install it came back with : W: Failed to fetch http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/pool/main/w/wine/wine_0.9.61~winehq0~ubuntu~8.04-1_i386.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 88.159.206.7 80] I'm not overly worried, I'm using wine 0.9.60 now and it's working fine, I was just updating because it was there. Can apt-get install Wine 1.0 on Ubuntu 8.04?
Hi, I'm preparing some brief instructions for someone on how to get Wine 1.0 set up on Ubuntu 8.04, and I'd like them to be as simple as possible. Is it possible to use apt-get to install Wine 1.0-rc3 (or other 1.0 versions)? So far I've managed to get 0.9.59, but nothing later. I know I can get the .deb package directly, but I thought if apt-get could do it, that would be easier

Ubuntu users, please upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy for Wine 0.9.60 and later
To prevent conflicts when upgrading to 8.04, older releases will no longer be getting Wine updates. Ubuntu Hardy will be released this Thursday, and contains many fixes that also affect Wine, such as support for some missing libraries in the 64 bit version. By default, Ubuntu's update manager will disable third party repositories on upgrade, which will leave you with the Wine included in

Problems when attempting to build wine from source on Ubuntu
I am trying to build Wine from source on an X64 Hardy Ubuntu system in order to do some regression testing. I am having trouble however to build the dependencies for that. I already did these a while ago, but I re-applied just in case the instructions from this page for the apt repository http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb. I constantly get this error: xavier at Xavier:~$ sudo apt-get

Win32/Wine applications feeding Ubuntu 8.04/Apache 2?
Hi all, I just got to know about Wine, and I'm a newbie on Ubuntuy/linux as well, but I got so far as to test some apps I've made in Delphi if they work on Wine (and they do work). (A COM version of my app is about 120% slower on Wine than on XP/SP2, and without the COM stuff enabled (running in "integrated mode") my app is about 30% slower (very CPU intensive string

Installing LLVM 3.8 on Ubuntu 14.04
You want to look at the apt-add-repository command, basically you provide that command like: * sudo add-apt-repository 'deb http://llvm.org/apt/trusty/ llvm-toolchain-trusty-3.8 main' * sudo apt-get update * sudo apt-get install clang-3.8 Cheers, -Neil. wine handles an app weirdly in ubuntu 8.04
I have a little Windows app which under Windows does not require installation. When started the first time, it creates in its own directory three files with desired configuration options I choose at that time. The next time started it simply uses those files. I copied the folder with the app and old config files to my Ubuntu 8.04 desktop and here what I have. 1. If I open the app folder in

Ubuntu and sources.list question about mirror sites...
Evening all: Thought I'd announce myself with a question about setting up sources.list to be able to begin download and install of R. Running version 7.10 of Ubuntu. (Tried 8.04 but found it slow and finicky with my hardware. Perhaps will try 8.10 or above, but that's a thought for another time.) Followed the notes on the R site and added the following lines to my sources.list: deb
