scratchy sound
Hi, I'm experiencing a few (but meaningful) cases of audio distortion (or bad quality). I can't say yet how often this happens. Please listen to the following sound file: http://213.96.91.201/temp/distorted_audio_1.wav This was recorded by Asterisk while the local SIP caller was dialing out a SIP trunk (so the problem is on my side, definitely, and it doesn't seem to be related to

Troubles in TF2
Hi, I'm using Suse 10.3, GeForce 8600GT 512mb, driver version 169.12, and wine 1.0 rc4. I have been installed TF2 from my dvd, run it and get this picture: [img=http://i.piccy.kiev.ua/i2/19/cd/a7ece736f92e3a7326dd84bee806.jpeg] (http://piccy.info/view/d8cd821a8b4c92750fd4fc423d5045ac/) [img=http://i.piccy.kiev.ua/i2/78/f9/37621bf27d58eb2246e57af848be.jpeg]

opusenc constant quality setting
I'm a bit confused about VBR with Opus. I see that the default is VBR, but I don't see any way to specify a quality setting. I can set a target bitrate, but that's definitely not what I want; I want a constant quality level, like "-q" in oggenc, and for the encoder to select bitrates based on the desired quality. For example, for playback through earbuds or laptop

Sound problem in Dell inspiron 1525
After installing CentOS 5.2 on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, the sound was inactive, I then installed Alsa-Driver, Alsa-utils, Alsa-plugins and Alsa-libs the ATrpms site. The speakers then work fine, but when I plug in headphones, the sound begins to fade out and eventually becomes completely quiet. I have checked the Volume Manager and nothing is muted including the Headphones volume, when I

Headphones volume control not working in CentOS 7
Hi all, I hope someone could enlighten me... How could I resolve the fact that the volume controls of all the headphones I try on CentOS 7 are not working, they are OK on CentOS 6 but impossible to make them work on my Thinkpad Laptop with an iPhone headphones or a Marshal Monitor plugged with a jack connector... Those 2 headphones work correctly in CentOS 6... What could I do to get the same

bad sound quality, also the ringtone
Hi, it took me 2 days to get my asterisk box running, so now I completed and I am disappointed of the sound quality. When I call other people their voices sound somewhat scratchy. First I thought it might be a codec problem, but I also recognized it during the ring tone or even the DISA connect tone. Sometimes it is better quality and sometimes more scratchy. Where might be the problem? I am

FLAC: headphones
hi flac list! I'm not sure if this question can be asked here, but here you go (it's a question for audiophiles only): I encode CDDA tracks to FLAC and play them on my Pocket PC (PDA). I'm looking for a high quality headphone to connect to my Pocket PC, but it must be an in-ear one but not like these: http://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/vanns/770045336?$medium_item$ So no plastic things

g729 quality at GSM bitrates
Greetings all, I'm trying to improve the codec selection on a few of the asterisk boxes we have to keep the g729 licences free for calls from ATAs that don't support anything apart from g711 and g729. GSM seems to offer noticably inferior call quality (at least when using a softphone + decent headphones), but it's about where I want the bitrate to be. I know there are lots of Speex

Mate and USB headphones
Logitech H540 headphones were working fine. Suddenly stopped. Sound Preferences says they are disabled but gives no hints on how to enable them, or how they became disabled. Tried rebooting, unplugging them, etc. Anyone know what is going on? This motherboard doesn't have onboard sound, this USB is my only option. And GNOME simply isn't usable for me, I used GNOME for years but

LAN IAX2 trunk bad audio quality vs. LAN SIP trunk good audio quality
Hi, I have an audio quality problem regarding IAX2. I have 2 Asterisk servers interconnected via 2 LAN trunks at 1Gbps (no nat, no firewall). One trunk is SIP and the other IAX2. Normally, I use IAX2 but have noticed easily reproducible audio quality problems (voice in/out is OK but there's a "third" noise overlapping with a "scratchy sound" as if it were some kind of

7.3 and USB headphones
Hi all! I wish to give huge thankyous to KB and all the others who worked to get 7.3 out the door. Many thanks! I have some good things and some bad. A good thing is that unlike previous versions, when I plug in my USB headphones they are automatically recognized and I get sound without having to change anything! (which is a huge win from before when I had to mess with settings, sometimes for a

Can you recommend some USB headphones
Or phones that work with Centos. I am making headway on my SIP testing, but I need a a couple (or 3) USB headphones or phones. I remember back quite at time ago I had problems with one with volume control (ie none!). So I am looking for a cheap USB headphone or 'real' VoIP phone. I am using SIP Communicator as my client.

OT: good headphones?
This is off-topic, mostly, but I figure you guys will have some knowledge in this sound-quality-related area. I'm sitting here looking at the most recent "Musician's Friend" at headphones and thinking about getting a pair. They've got products from AKG, Fostex, Audio Technica, Nady, Sennheiser, and Sony, at price points ranging from $16 to $130 (list prices $20 to
