"...no license.." - Wine and MSAccess97
I am new to Wine. I have just installed it using RPM and I put all the DLL files
(I was asked for by Wine) in the same folder as MSAccess.
I get an error when I am launching Access97:
"Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine"
How can I get this to go away?

How to completely mirror(backup) whole system?
I have 7 wokstations, I would like to use my mandrake server to mirror bosses
workstation(it is RedHat9.0) onto separate hard drive on the server, so if
something happens to her system, I could just take out that hard drive and
replace the crashed one and limit my recovery time to 30 minutes at most. Is
complete backup nightly the right solution? How would I go about it?
Also, I would like to

Access97, in house VB6 app, terrible performance
hello everyone I am running suse9.0 with samba 2.2.8 kernel 2.4.23, the
app is in vb6 using the vb jetengine to access access97 databases,
roughly 15 of them all between 200 - 900 megs in size, all on the same
shared drive.
This arrangement works well on our NT4 server. but when we try to use
linux/samba we find read/writing is incrediably slow. as an example our

SMB3.0 with XP Home and Win98SE clients. XP no go, what should I do?
I want to have SMB server to authenticate all my users. Problem is that
I have 8 Win98SE workstations and 2 XP Home laptops. I know XP Home
won't do domain log-ons. What are my options (I would realy hate giving
M$ more money by upgrading laptops to PRO)?
How can I do user based log-ins in that kind of environment?
Thanks,
Apollo

Wine and MS Access problem
This is a MS Access problem I dont see in other posts.
I have wine up and running and I now have it working with one other
app, a spice cad program called scad3.exe. When I run it via wine I do
get error messages, but since the program comes up and works fine any
way I have been ignoring those errors. But I will list them here
anyway, in case some expert can tell if they are relevant to my

No License error message when running MSAccess via Wine
Does any one out there running MicroSoft Access 97 get this message
when they try to run it via Wine ?
"Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on
this machine"
I get this message, despite the fact I have a perfectly legal copy of
Access on my machine, and it runs perfectly, and has been for years,
from windows.

Access 97 on Wine 20041019
Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting Access 97 working with Wine 20041019. Word and
Excel work just fine, as far as I've used them, but Access simply refuses to
start. I've installed off an original installer CD through the WineTools (
2.11jo) utility. I customised the install, removing everything except for
the basic application files for Word, Excel and Access. I've also

Organizing a Pre Astricon road trip
Hi All,
I am cross posting this to the Asterisk Users, Biz, and Dev lists at the
suggestion of David Duffet, so sorry if you see it multiple times.
As this year Astricon is in Orlando, and most of us are tech geeks in on
form or another, we are trying to organize a road trip to see NASA's
Kennedy Space Center.
I have been in touch with their group sales office and was told that there

Bad EXE format for
I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid.
I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few
days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through
Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...)
Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says:

Functional Tests Fail - No URL can be generated for hash
Hi,
I''m just learning Ruby and Rails. I have developed a Rails application,
but not using the creation scripts that come with the rails
distribution. Consequently, no test scaffolding is available to me, and
I''m trying to write my functional tests from scratch.
I have what might be considered a standard plain old controller
(dashboard_controller.rb) that I''m trying
