Noisy sound quality with Blackfin in WB-mode
Hello all, I'm testing the Speex codec for my diploma thesis on a BF-533 Blackfin under uCLinux (2005R3 RC3 release). I successfully compiled the Speex (1.1.11-svn) and I can encode/decode wav-files on my STAMP-board using the speexenc/speexdec sample apps. But I encountered that the decoded file sounds strange/noisy, when compiling with "--enable-blackfin-asm" +

Noisy sound quality with Blackfin in WB-mode
Hi Bernhard, Can you confirm I'm understanding everything correctly? You encode with the same encoder and then decode with either A) blackfin assembly and fixed-point or B) fixed-point only on Blackfin. Then A) sounds bad and B) sounds good. If you do the same in narrowband, it sounds OK. Is that correct? If that's the case, it's *probably* some kind of bug and/or invalid assumption

Difference Between WINE and an Emulator
I've got someone who doesn't understand that WINE Is Not an Emulator and apparently doesn't get the FAQ on the site. I personally don't use WINE (still being on Windows kinda avoids the need), so I don't really have the knowledge to argue this much farther. Here's his latest point (formating in clasic usenet style below), I need something simple that says,

Wine error "sysi86: Invalid Argument"?
Hi, I'm a newbie, and maybe doing something stupid, but am trying to follow the User's Guide and am getting nowhere. I've tried both the Blastwave "Mature Vintage" (2005/04/19) and the "Blended" (2005/07/25), and when I try to run 'winecfg' or 'wine' itself, I get: sysi86: Invalid Argument I am using a Metropolis W2100z Opteron with a 64-bit

Hi All, >>>Clarification: I'm getting a flood of wine-users emails. Yes, I'm seeing this too. I spent all day today trying to understand why this is happening, and failed, but I think I have just now figured it out. As far as I can tell, the flood of messages are all the messages that were posted to the newsgroup since the last time the newsgroup and wine-users mailman list

cemw newsgroup and this mailing list, still connected?
Hi everyone, Are the wine-users mailing list and news:comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine newsgroups still connected ? I've subscribed to the mailing list, then posted a message on the newsgroup ( news:44f3c571$0$164$a3f2974a@nnrp1.numericable.fr ) but I don't see it on the mailing list nor on gmane.org . That seems also true for many other messages on news:gmane.comp.emulators.wine.user .

Xen PV ABI on FPU doesn't match with pvops kernel FPU code, reducing to a serious memory data damage
Hi guys, The PV ABI of xen will clear CR0.TS before trapping into the PV guest kernel's exception handler, so the exception handler in guest kernel runs with CR0.TS clear at the very beginning (which is different with on baremetal). In Xenolinux and mainline Linux kernel before 2.6.26 everything is fine since they don't sleep nor enable interrupts during the handler, however the current

Can't get Unreal to work in opengl mode
Hello all. I downloaded and compiled Wine-20021031.tar.gz (I did ./tools/wineinstall) According to the config.log, it correctly found and compiled everything about OpenGL on my system (I have a GeForce II MX card and I use the NVIDIA 2960 drivers). I played succesfully 'Jedi Knight II' in OpenGL mode with wine; but I can't play Unreal I (single-player game) in any other mode than

Support section revamp
Hi Folks, We've now reconnected the newgroup comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine to the wine-users mailing list, so they are, in theory, one 'virtual' community. We also revamped the web site a bit to try to make these things pop out a bit more. Please see this page in particular: http://www.winehq.org/site/getting_help Hopefully this will help people find a way to search for help and
