geoR, variofit
Hello All! I calculate a variogram using the function variog (package geoR) afterwards I use variofit to fit a spherical model (see code below). Now I just changed the units of the variable (in this case MPa to kPa just a factor of 1000). If I do so, I get a different fit and therefore different ranges etc. Why? The semi-variance is of course 6 orders of magnitude higher but the values

hosts allow/deny not working correctly in 2.0.3 or 2.0.4b
I am having difficult getting the hosts allow/deny to work with IP ranges or netmasks. Ideally I would prefer to use the IP/Netmask method, e.g. 111.22.33.0/255.255.255.0, because we have a flat ATM network with multiple class C's (netmask is really 255.255.252.0). This, however, doesn't work!! I can't do 111.22.33. either... I can't even do specific IP's, e.g. 111.22.33.44

Interface binding ignores my settings in 2.0.6
I have a multi-homed server with interfaces into two VLANs (one Unix and one NT). I need for all Samba traffic to go through the NT VLAN interface (which is not the primary, of course). Under 2.0.5a I was able to do this with the "Interfaces" option by specifying the NT interace first (I did not do the "Bind Interface Only"). However, 2.0.6 seems to ignore this setting which

Performance problem with CentOS and XFS on EMC
We have an appliance that uses the CentOS 4.4 Plus kernel with XFS on an EMC RAID array that performs about ? or less as well with cached i/o than with direct i/o. With direct i/o we get about 32Mb/s throughput or better, but if we enable the cache for the EMC RAID, we only get 8Mb/s or less. This doesn't happen if we use JFS, where we get a little less than 32Mb/s throughput with or without

EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi, We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :) Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage, preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience? Or I will need to buy some REHL licenses ? I'll put my hands on it only next

IAX Implementation Problem
We have been, unsuccessful, trying to implement inter-asterisk communications using IAX. I was wondering if anyone is having similar problems, or would share information about their succes/ Our environment consists of two servers with public IP addresses and DNS entries that resolve. (for the example we use "domain.net") Based on the information available to us, we have tried the

smbclient, kerberos, and EMC
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get smbclient to cooperate with my new EMC Celerra (just got it a little while ago) using kerberos. My windows domain environment is win2000 + sp4, the EMC is "joined" to the domain. I am using samba 3.0, fresh sources, and MIT KRB5 1.3.4, all freshly built. I join the domain, etc. everything is happy. I use kinit user@REALM to get my initial tgt.

Joining EMC NAS to Samba 3 Domain?
I see list discussions on this subject from a few years back but they were very brief and, it seems, inconclusive. I would be interested in hearing from anybody who has discovered the "trick" to getting an EMC Celerra to join their Samba 3.x domain. I have an old NetApp Filer happily joined. I simply created an account with "smbldap-useradd -w filername" and when I then

Non-default Domain group RID and NAS problem....
All, Many moons ago I set up Samba 3.x with LDAP (Fedora Directory Server) back end. Frankly, I forget what example configurations I worked off of, but the GIDs and SambaSIDs for well-known "Domain" groups (Admins, Computers, Guests, Users) start around 2512. Fast forward 6 months and we have a commercial NAS (EMC) in the domain. It has worked fine for basic home directories, but

Help. . .read socket data errors
I am using the defaults that came with the samba RPM package on Mandrake 10.1. For socket options, it has: socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 Is that something that may fix the problem if I change it? Samba doesn't work after upgrading
I just upgraded my system to Fedora Core 7 from Core 6 and I find that now Samba doesn't seem to be working for me anymore. If I try to connect from my laptop computer running Windows XP I just get one shared folder that has only a few subfolders (probably because offline files is turned on). If I try to connect by using the IP address (\\192.168.0.5) it tells me that it's not accessible

[EXTERNAL] Re: On retiring some terminology
That is terminology from Computer Science. (Decades ago?) It is familiar. Not invented by Cisco. As in, producer-consumer, from the same time. Those were all different paradigms for client-server relationships. There must be Wikipedia citations that can be consulted. As I recall, there were distinctions, such as, producer-consumer were tightly bound, where the producer had no purpose
