Wine 20010904-1 can't find libntdll.so
I just installed Wine version 20010904-1 on RH7.1. libntdll.so is in
/usr/lib/wine but even though I have defined the WINEDLLPATH to
include that directory, when I try to run wine I get an error message
that says...
wine: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot load
shared object file: No such file or directory.
What's up?

WINEDLLPATH doesn't work
Hi
I have some win32 DLL (native DLL) which is required to run my application.
If I copy the DLL to $HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ ... my application
runs OK. But if I out the DLL to ... eg. $HOME/.wine/drive_c/myDLL
and doing following
export WINEDLLPATH=$HOME/.wine/drive_c/myDLL
wine myapp
wine simply complain that my DLL not found !!
Well, I really don't want to put everything

Samba's Printer Going Off-Line (after a Win98 Machine speaks to it)
Hi,
I have a light firewall machine that also acts as a Samba print
server for a Win32 host on my intranet. For some reason, if the Win98
machine hasn't printed for an extended length of time, the printer
goes off-line. When the Win32 tries to print, the printer throws an
error and we have to unplug the printer and then plug it back in. It
then tries to finish the print job which

WINEDLLPATH weirdness
Hi all,
I'm using the Linux to MinGW cross compiler toolchain to build
windows binaries for one of my libraries. I'm also trying to
run the cross-compiled binaries that make up the test suite
under wine version 0.9.58 from ubuntu hardy heron.
The DLL for my library gets built as:
/home/erikd/Bzr/libsndfile-mingw/src/.libs/libsndfile-1.dll
and the test suite binaries get built in:

Internet Explorer 5.5 with Wine?
I'm extremely new to Wine, I don't even have a confog file yet. I can't find
any decent documentation at wineHQ.com. Can anyone explain that whole thing
to me?
Also, I hate Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera. I want to get IE 5.5 working with
Wine. I have tried getting to the Internet explorer Directory in the
Terminal, and then using "wine iexplore.exe -dll

Wine compiles but dosen't run
Since version 20020509 I've had nothing but problems, so I decided to
reinstall the OS, format all partitions, and reinstall all drivers and
programs and updates in the hope that wine will then work correctly.
It's taken about 11 hours; I've now installed wine again, but for some
reason I had to do make install --ignore-errors; wine did not start
after wineinstall; I now get this

likelihood ratio tests using glmmPQL
I am analysing some binary data with a mixed effects model using
glmmPQL.
I am aware that I cannot use the AIC values to help me find the minimum
adequate model so how do I perform likelihood ratio tests? I need to
fix on the minimum adequate model but I'm not sure of the proper way to
do this.
Thank you very much,

AIC in lmer when using PQL
I am analysing binomial data using a generalised mixed effects model. I
understand that if I use glmmPQL it is not appropriate to compare AIC
values to obtain a minimum adequate model.
I am assuming that this means it is also inappropriate to use AIC values
from lmer since, when analysing binomial data, lmer also uses PQL
methods. However, I wasn't sure so please could somebody clarify

issue with varSel.svm.rfe in package MCRestimate
Hello all,
I would like to perform SVM-RFE (Guyon et al. 2002) in R and have only found
one implementation of this algorithm. The function belongs
to the MCRestimate package but when I try to use it I encounter a problem
- the function appears to be missing a required package or other function
that I simply cannot find available anywhere.
Here is my session info followed by a simple example

Wishlist: simple legend options (PR#7400)
Hello!
I was loooking in R-bugs and found under wishlist-fullfilled wish for
"smart" placement of a legend. This has already been done in package
gplots in function smartlegend.
One question. This "bug-report" is under wishlist-fullfilled. Is it really
fullfilled?

It would be nice if names(obj) would give slot names as well. Since for many
people slots are new, the first thing that happens is you try to access what's
in them and can't find how to do it. If you don't know that slotNames() exists,
it can be very frustrating. Moreover, if you

It would be nice if legend had the option of some default locations you could
choose instead of entering specific coordinates, like "topleft",
"topright","topcenter", etc. based on par("usr") coordinates. I know I've wanted
it so often I've made my

Downloads -- possible bug?
Hi,
When I go to the CRAN page to download a new version of R, there are not
the same versions available depending on which mirror I pick. When I go to
http://cran.cnr.berkeley.edu/, for example, I get 2.2.1, but if I go
http://cran.stat.ucla.edu/ the option is 2.2.0 (I'm downloading the Windows
base file). Neither refreshing nor clearing my cache changes it. For future
reference, I'd

It would be great if heatmap and/or image had the option of printing a legend
bar on it somewhere that would indicate the ranges given by the colors in the
heatmap (i.e. a very small image rectangle with the same colors as in the
heatmap). Because heatmap is using layout, it seems pretty

'all' inconsistent?
Hello,
I came across the following behavior, which seems illogical to me. I don't
know if it is a bug or if I'm missing something:
> all(logical(0))
[1] TRUE
> any(logical(0))
[1] FALSE
> isTRUE(logical(0))
[1] FALSE
This actually came up in practice when I did something like
> all( names(x) %in% vec )
as an error-handling, and I was hoping that it would work regardless
