Latest on Abacus DPMI problem.
I contacted Mr. Heinonen, and got the response below. So, he says the
problem is, it is 16 bit DPMI, which is rare, and the real problem is,
DOSVM has a bug which allows two simultaneous interrupts. I assured him I
was not asking anyone to work on the problem at all. I needed to get a
handle on it, I had thought it was a locked selector problem. Learning what
the real problem was, is a big

Abacus DOS problem Lock Selector
A lawyer in California is trying to change to linux. In CA, there are a
number of programs required by the courts, and so far none are ported to
linux at any price. His reason for wishing to change has to do with the
fact that Microsoft now controls his access to his own files, and he finds
this unacceptable.
I tried one of his apps, an old DOS version of Abacus. Using the WINe with

[HELP] DPMI
Sure!
As I don't have Internet at home, most of my e-mails
(at work) are from memory... So it surely is DPMI.

SYSLINUX 2.01-pre1 released
This isn't strictly speaking a SYSLINUX release, it's a change to
MEMDISK and mkdiskimage to allow the creation of hard disk images with
DOSEMU headers. This should make it easier to create bootable DOS hard
disk images under DOSEMU.

memdisk hd images
How does one make a HD image? Floppy images are easy enough, but to have to
create a hdimage, you need MBR and partitions, etc... I want to create a
10MB DOS HD and boot it, how would I do this with Linux?
Thanks.

Boot Failed: please change disks...
I had to create a single floppy image holding the kernel and initrd of SuSe8.0 distibution. When I boot the computer, it first loads the kernel, and starts loading the initrd. After a short while it halts saying ?Boot Failed: please change disks and press a key to continue.?
The floppy image is served by a PXE server, so I am not sure if the problem I am facing has anything to do with ?bad

memdisk hdimage
Sorry to bother you,
but i want to use your genious memdisk feture, but i am
not able to create a hdimage that is compatible with
memdisk (see ML postings). I am not a Linux newbie, i
maintain a project at [1], so i cannot be too stupid
in making the image.
I really tried it for some weeks to create such an image,
i am not able to get a working image.
It would be nice if you can send me a step

install a DOS application with wine
Hi
I have a relatively small executable (and also the source code) for an
experimental data logging application which was written to be used with
DOS in the middle ages of earth.
I tried to install it using wine.
Wine simply hangs after the second line - no return to prompt - see below:

FW: How do I emulate a harddrive instead of a flop py?
OK, seem to have answered my own question... I think. We'll see how it works out. Basically I should've been asking for some help in the dosemu forums because that's where I needed the help. I think I get it now....
mkdiskimage whatever size you need
Set up dosemu to boot the precise DOS flavor you want from mounted folder
also mount the image as secondary HDD
fdisk, format, sys, etc
