Latest on Abacus DPMI problem.
I contacted Mr. Heinonen, and got the response below. So, he says the
problem is, it is 16 bit DPMI, which is rare, and the real problem is,
DOSVM has a bug which allows two simultaneous interrupts. I assured him I
was not asking anyone to work on the problem at all. I needed to get a
handle on it, I had thought it was a locked selector problem. Learning what
the real problem was, is a big

Application needs a 32-bit DOS extender; DOS4GW & DOS32A don't work.
Hi,
I have a DSP compiler I'm trying to get working in linux with wine. The
compiler needs a 32-bit DOS extender. The programme tries to use dos4g.exe or
dos4gw.exe by default. The result is:
wine shc.exe algoio.c

wine-win3.1 program in SuSE8.2 - help
Help
I am not having much success getting the program to work and would
appreciate some pointers and suggestions for further tests.
I ran the program: wine accts.exe
from its program directory
without debug and got the following:
wine already configured, run 'winesetup' to reconfigure.
why is the above msg considering that wine would not run if it wasn't
configured?
I hope the

Multimedia module; Internet Explorer; Atomic clock sync - sundry difficulties
After much struggle I am finally beginning to get some action from wine
(codeweavers). Can anyone help me with the following:
1) A small program that calls an atomic clock in America to check the
time and corrects that on the computer shows its window but says
"external exception 80000100" when I ping it or leave it for a while.
2) WebDwarf - a website builder - seems to work quite

Samba + Abacus Law anyone?
I'm attempting to install Abacus Law (v13) under Samba and Linux. Install
completes, and I get as far as a single user successfully logged in, but
the 2nd user is nothing but trouble. Samba logs show nothing unusual to my
semi-trained eye, but locking code or timing is a likely suspect. Technical
support is of no help as they haven't tested (and therefore don't support)

I have been working on this for about two months for the University of

more complete.
I need to port alot of things to a more general way of doing things and
refactor alot of code so this should get better daily.

Complete National Geographic For Windows:DOSMEM_MapDosLayout
I am trying to run The Complete National Geographic For Windows, I think is the name. Around 1997, NG sold a pricey package of CD's with every page of every magazine since the beginning through around 1997, in a fancy box. It was designed to run on Windows 95.
There is an installation program, and this program takes the individual .jpg images, one for each page, and presents two pages at a

problem starting Visual dBASEv 5.7
I'm running Debian/Wheezey (testing) which uses the rather old Wine v1.0.1. This is on an AMD64 machine. I was able to install Borland's Visual dBASE without any problems but when I start it, or any application developed with it, I get an error message in an Alert box on top of the startup splash screen that reads:
Error: Printer error.
When I click OK, the application exits.

New Program: Abacus Sentry - Port Scan Detector
Hello,
I just made available a beta version of a port scan detector that I''ve
been working on. The program, called Abacus Sentry, is a port scan/probe
detector that offers what I think are a number of unique and useful
features:
- Runs on TCP or UDP sockets. Configurable by the user to bind to
multiples of sockets for increased detection coverage.
- Adjustable scan detection value with

dosemu, not WINE, to run 16 bit DPMI
Some days ago, I asked for help running an old DOS program for a CA
attorney. It seemed to have a problem with 16 bit DPMI.
While we have had to (temporarily, I hope) compromise and use a licensed
copy of DOS 6.22 to run it with dosemu, it runs perfectly on dosemu.
Instead of usind a hdimage of freedos, which will not run the program, one
creates a dir, /var/lib/dosemu/bootdir, and fills it

Sample wxruby code is available
I have just released an Alpha version of my redwood email client,
written with wxruby. It uses toolbars, menus, and lots of widget
layouts, plus it launches two kinds of background tasks.
I learned a lot about wxruby and wxwindows as I worked on it, so I hope
you will benefit from seeing the source code. It is at:

Please give me feedback on the code,

dot in file path
I wish to have puppet copy a file to /etc/cron.hourly/ on target
machines, however when puppetmaster attempts to build the catalog it
complains about a syntax error in both nodes.pp as well as in the
manifest init.pp for this class. I have experimented with various
quotings as well as escaping the dot character with no success. Can
anyone shed light on a solution?

RODBC sqlSave does not append the records to a DB2 table
I am running R version 2.9.2 on Windows XP OS with RODBC version Version:

Has anyone out there in the R user community successfully appended records
to a DB2 table on a remote database using the sqlSave function in the RODBC
package? (or by any other means from R?)
I posed a similar question a few months ago and unfortunately, did not
receive a response. I was hoping recent upgrades to
