Problem with Divx codec in VirtualDub
Greetings..
I've been trying to use Virtualdub for converting videos, but each time I
click on Save to AVI it gets stuck if I try to use the Divx Codec version
4.X. If I tell it not to use the codec everything works well.
How can I do to let it use that codec? I have a Debian Sarge system running
Wine 09-04-2002. I use a fake-windows instalation but I can get DLL files

VirtualDub and enconding with DivX, XviD
Hello,
I am trying to get the latest wine (Wine 20030219, fake windows) working
with the
GordianKnot (0.27). Unfortunately, Virtual Dub is not be able to compress a
avs-file with the DivX-codec. It crashes if trying to. Also, it would be
nice to compress an
mpeg-source with Xvid but also it crashes. BTW, VirtualDub does
not list it in its codecs window ?f "msvfw32" is set to

Anybody running VirtualDub ?
Hi!
I just tried to run VirtualDub 1.5.10 with current wine from CVS.
The program runs, but when the video playback is started (or even the video
file is just loaded), all the screen except the window with the first video
frame goes black. The video is played properly. All is alive and well,
underlying windows/icons are there and they react on the mouse, windows can

Ogg Movies
Hi!
I was very pleased when I realized that it is possible to use OGG VORBIS for
compressing the audio streams of my movies.
But because the AVI standard (*.avi) doesn't support VORBIS audio streams, I
had to use the OGG MEDIA standard (*.ogm) instead for my movies.
Are there any tools (or VirtualDub plugins ???) for editing Ogg Media
Streams?
I would like to change the Video FrameRate in

Speex ACM full release
If you want to put Speex content into WAVE and AVI files, you can now
do so. ;) On www.openacm.org you will find the codec. Its status has
just been updated to an official release and you should no longer see
crashes when using VirtualDub and CDex.
Just be warned that the codec only accepts 8000, 16000 and 32000 Hz
because of the codec's design and the lack of an internal resampler.

Encoding: theora legalities
Hi,
I am having trouble understanding the legalities of the whole encoding
issue. Here is what I am trying to do:
Problem: We get 17GB's worth of 12 second long mpeg2 video clips from a
capture card. We want some way of compressing these clips so that we can
save space and bandwidth. These clips are used in an activity that
generates income (nothing sinister).
Proposed solution: Use

[Fwd: Encoding: theora legalities]
Hello Sime,
I have forwarded this message to GPL-Violations. While it isn't a
violation, it is trying to prevent any and it would be far better for
everyone if you were given the correct information from the beginning.

Not as such, no. I think what you're looking for, for your purposes, is an
ACM codec, to produce Vorbis data wrapped in a RIFF-WAV header. For use in
WAV and AVI and the like.
I did come across such a beast a while back, but I think it had trouble
recognizing/decoding RC2-encoded data.

Large File Size
Hi,
I'm using virtualdub 1.4.10 under FreeBSD 4.6, it was working fine
till i wanted to open files larger than 4 gb ( on mounted ntfs ), it
detects the file size less than 4 GB ( for example 8GB was detected as
499MB ), so it can't be opened.
Is there anyway to resolve this?

Re: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec
My concern is primarly the 'marketing' aspect. If UCI, or MCF, or any other interface, is adopted by the toolmakers, then that's a perfectly good solution.

Theora branch and win/mac codecs
My understanding -- Monty or Emmett, feel free to chime in if you think this is incorrect -- is as follows:
www.theora.org is the home for all new releases of the Theora video codec (formally known as VP3). This includes the main OGG/Vorbis integration product, which Monty is working on personally, as well as the QT and Windows codecs, both legacy VP3 versions and new versions reflecting any
