2cd installation
Hi!
I'm having some problems installing a 2CD application under wine. I run the
setup.exe from the 1st cd (so I have to mount it anyway) and when the setup
asks for cd2 I get stuck, because I can not remove cd1 from the drive,
because it is mounted and because there's an application using it
(setup.exe). Is there any way to change cds?

InstallShield problems
Hi,
I'm having a problem with applications with InstallShield based setup
environments. There's a window coming up saying that "Setup is preparing the
InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the rest of the setup
process. Please Wait." and this is absolutely OK, but there's an other
message which says "Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x800)".

Hi,
This is some short of technical question or might be my stupidity, please tell
me so ;o)
Ok, let's say I have an application which I would like to run in
640x480x32/fullscreen. I have my basic X desktop settings at 1024x768 and I
would no like to change the resolution. Is there any way to let wine start an
X server on another shell with a different resolution, automatically switch

files ?!
Hello all again,
I'm sorry to hold you guys up with my bullshit all the time, but I really want
to make wine work the way I imagined ;o)
I'm having a strange situation here, and probably found the root of my
problems.
I have a filemanager called Windows Commander. I've opened it using wine and
were testing the functionality of it. I saw strange things. My windows/system

winsetup
Hello!
I'm just getting fimiliar with wine, so I'm a newbie and need some help ;o)
wine went up correctly, no errors, no claims, etc. It starts some windows /
dos software with no problem, but sometimes it asks for certain dll files,
for example: OpenGL32.dll, kernel32.dll, etc., so I've got stuck for a while.
...decided to check the docs for info, and finally found winelauncher

Fedora developer list is asking about progress for MIT Kerberos 5 compatibility
I've been involved in a thread over on the fedora-devel mailing list
about the experimental MIT Kerberos 5 compatibility for Samba. I'm
staring at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/MIT_Build , and the list
of incompatibilities is daunting.
Is anyone over here doing the compatibility work and can comment on
progress? Or, perhaps, is this just fundamentally unworkable? The
experimental

Samba 4 domain members
Hi there,
I would like to setup a Samba 4 member server to act as a separate
fileserver within my Samba 4 domain.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this setup?
I've tried to create one following this:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member
Which seems to work ok until I try to change any permission on any shares
(or anything within the shares). I then get

I'm trying to run the installer for Finale 2003, and I get the following

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt
style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues
with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up
performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some
reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node.
I created a new tinc instance using TAP

SVG showstopper
We seem unable to get SVG running under Rails with apparent memory
conflicts between the SVG xml object and parameters. For us, unless we
can get SVG running okay under Rails, it is a showstopper for us to use
Rails.
There seem to be only 2 examples out there for SVG, the graph project
that actually converts SVG to another image format (way too
cumbersome/unworkable for our needs) and the

spatial statistics on images, any packages?
Hi list,
Is there a package that covers the evaluation of spatial statistics on
images and not on point data? I've converted an image matrix to x, y
coordinates and a measurement value but evaluation with the package
spdep (not really designed for image data I suppose) is unworkable. Any
suggestions?

term duplication among index tables
Greetings all,
I have been looking into using Xapian to provide search for email. I
have to be very careful about indexing overhead, and I notice that
several of the tables use term strings as part of the key or data. I
was wondering if there is a performance or complexity reason for not
having a separate table mapping term strings to unique numbers, which
could then be used in the

How are bricks healed in Debian Jessie 3.11
Hi,
How are bricks healed in Debian Jessie 3.11? Is it at the file of
block level? The scenario we have in mind is a 2 brick replica volume
for storing VM file systems in a self-service IaaS, e.g. OpenNebula. If
one of the bricks is off-line for a period of time all the VM files
systems will all have been modified when brick comes back on-line. As
some of these VM file systems are quite

"utils" lacking namespace?
Hi all,
A colleague of mine tried to install the package EMV, which had been
removed from CRAN.
she ran into some kind of trouble, R locked up, and she closed the program.
Now when she starts R, "utils" can't be loaded which of course create
an unworkable environment.
Below I've copy-pasted the error message she gets when starting R.
Any ideas on what went wrong, and more

[RFC] Removing autoconf from trunk
Now that 3.8 is imminently branching with the newly deprecated autoconf I think it is time to propose a process and timeline for removing autoconf support from trunk.
At this point I believe there should be no users of autoconf for Clang and LLVM that are not supported by CMake, so I would like to propose dropping autoconf support from the cfe and llvm repositories on January 26th (two weeks from

Registry entries
Can anyone point me at a good doc on farting about with the registry?
Or do you feel like giving me the fool's guide?
I have large tracts of registry entries to stuff in, and adding them via
Edit/new in regedit is an absolute PITA and unworkably slow.
I have files from exported from a win98 registry (via windoze regedit)
with the correct info.
I need to add because programs are not finding

Some dsound oddness
I had noticed a few weeks ago that sound for me on Riven was now having
problems. It used to be almost perfect, but now it was suddenly doing
things like changing pitch and speed, losing sync with the video, and
breaking up.
Of course I initially suspected a regression, though no one else
mentioned problems. I just now got around to spending a bit more time on
it and found it was not a
