Newbie: IE5.5
howdy,
i am very new to WINE and have looked around for some docs on howto get
IE5.5 running, but can't seem to find anything straight foward. i just
installed RH7.2, and am running Ximian GNOME, without a Windows partition.
WINE is apparently installed by default with RH7.2. i tried the simple
'archnid' (solitaire) program and seemed to work ok. however, i have the

Language packs (was IE5.5)
Thanks to all those who replied.
In the meantime, I dug around in the Codeweavers apps database, and
found some stuff that helped me get it working (I think it was setting
shlwapi to "native" that did the trick).
But now I have a NEW PROBLEM!!!
I need to view Hebrew web pages. In Windows, if I went to a Hebrew page,
IE would ask me if I want to download and install the Hebrew language

IE5.5 (was:(no subject))
Thanks for the reply!
I tried the instructions on Frank's IE5.5 page, including copying all
the files and directories to my ~/.wine/fake_windows/ directory (except
jsnl.dll, which I could not find...)
I do not know if dcom95 exists somewhere in one of the directories that
I copied across, but I know that exactly the same thing happens when I
try to run IE on the Windows partition (instead of

(no subject)
Hi,
I am trying to get IE5.5 to work on Codeweavers Wine (20020411-6).
It runs OK, but I get a dialog saying that "Dial Up Networking could not
be started."
How do I get it to use kppp (which is already connected)? I have tried
setting "Com1 = "/dev/modem"" (and Com2, 3 etc.), in ~/.wine/config, but
it does not help.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Martin

wine 1.0 and ie 5.5
ok, i'm NO expert but I can learn a LOT of things.
I have used wine very sparingly in the past, enough to know that IE, outlook and a few other "Win Only" apps will run. So when wine 1.9 was released i figure i HAD to have it.
but BOY its a lot different.
Installation was smooth, MDV rpms work as expected, but thats where it ends.
I use the same IE5.5 install source I have used

IE5.5
Hey Rails, Prototype and Scriptaculous peoples.
I love all three frameworks, my only concern is Prototypes lack of
support in IE5.5
Is there really too much of the framework that IE5.5 can''t handle or
is simply a design decision not to support it?
I want to push web standards forward, but unfortunately there''s simply
stil too many IE5.5 users to ignore. The incorrect box model

WineHQ.com server crash
On 10:00:12 CST the wine.codeweavers.com a.k.a www.winehq.com server
suffered catastrophic hardware failure. The power supply suddenly
decided of its own free will that the motherboard and all of the
attached components needed 3x the recommended voltage (or something).
wine.codeweavers.com (ver 3.0) on-line and operational. Sorry for the
inconvenience of downtime.

WineHQ.com moving today
FINAL NOTICE!
We are going to shut down the old Winehq.com box today. This will happen
at 9pm CST. At that time the new winehq.com box should be operational.
But as with all DNS transfers, there may be delay as the changes
propagate the net. If you can't get to winehq.com, use winehq.org
instead. There will be no difference between the two domains.
This is the final opportunity for you to

WineHQ.com Move Complete
The WineHQ.com move is complete, but not without some issues.
The 1st issue is that our mailing lists (mailman) sent out a huge amount
of email because the newsgroup gateway changed. It basically thought all
the messages on comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine were new. Apologies go
out to the users whose email inboxes we filled up.
So in the meantime, the newsgroup gateway, and the NNTP server on

Problems installing and configuring Wine
I downloaded wine-010708-stripped.tar.bz2 from the web. (I'm running RedHat
6.2 on a Pentium 133 with 48mb of RAM and a 10gb hard drive which is not
recognized by the BIOS. It was running Window$ using Maxblast EZ-Bios
software overlay - until that software went south. Last time, for some
reason, it fixed itself when I booted to Linux (using my boot floppy) and
ran lilo - I've no idea
