data.frame-question]
First a general comment on posting style, could you please be more specific about where the error occurs as without this it is very difficult to identify what the problem is. Now concerning your problem. When I tried the code I posted yesterday I thought it worked fine. I've tried it again now and found that the data.frame TAB3 actually only has one column and the names "A",

Coercion of percentages by as.numeric

[<- and indexing for zoo objects
Hi I've been greatly enjoying the functionality the zoo package offers. However I've hit a snag with the following code > a <- zoo(matrix(1:10,5,2), 2001:2005) > a 2001 1 6 2002 2 7 2003 3 8 2004 4 9 2005 5 10 > a[I(2003), 2] 2003 8 > a[I(2003), 2] <- NA Error: subscript out of bounds > I've also tried > coredata(a[I(2003), 2])

data.frame-question
Dear R-List, I am very new to R and programming itself, so my question may be easy to answer for you. I tried a lot and read through the manuals, but I still have the following problem: I have 2 data-frames: Number<-as.numeric (Number) Name<-as.character (Name) TAB1<-data.frame (Name,Number) - it looks like this:- Name Number A 2 A 3 A 6 B 8 B 12 B 7 C 8 D 90 E 12 E 45 佲仸

But it should only show the attributes I listed in attr_accessible! What

e1071 SVM, cross-validation and overfitting
I am accustomed to the LIBSVM package, which provides cross-validation on training with the -v option % svm-train -v 5 ... This does 5 fold cross validation while building the model and avoids over-fitting. But I don't see how to accomplish that in the e1071 package. (I learned that svm(... cross=5 ...) only _tests_ using cross-validation -- it doesn't affect the training.) Can

Problem with Princurve
Hey all, I can't seem to get the princurve package to produce correct results, even in the simplest cases. For example, if you just generate a 1 period noiseless sine wave, and ask for the principal curve and plot, the returned curve is clearly wrong (doesn't follow the sine wave). Here's my code: library(princurve) x <- runif(1000,0,2*pi); x <- cbind(x/(2*pi), sin(x)) fit1

Help with Projection Pursuit, ppr().
Hi, Recently, I installed the 1.1.0 version of R (for Windows), since it includes an implementation of Projection Pursuit (I failed to write my own version of PP as a standalone C++ program). As far as I know, R offers two interfaces/sintax for the ppr() function. The first one requieres a regression formula and a data frame. The other requieres X, a matrix with the explanatory variables, and Y,

Does "--link-dest" option supports link to remote backup server?
Hello everyone: I keeps using rsync to backup my files on my laptop from one folder to another, and to reduce disk usage, so I use "--link-dest" option for incremental backup like this: *rsync -a --link-dest=/local/old /tmp/myfile /local/new* And "/local/old" is backuped some days ago, I use "--link-dest" option to keep unchanged files as links to new destination

link-dest to remote server doesn't work in Linux client
Hello: I first use rsync on Cygwin in Windows, and make a fully old backup like this: rsync -a --force test 192.168.0.10::ttt/old/ Then in cygwin, I use "--link-dest" option to do a incremental backup: rsync -a --force --link-dest=../old/ 192.168.0.10::ttt/new/ * "new" directory contains updated files, and unchanged files are hard linked to "old" directory, rsync
