Winever
Howdy, Is there any particular reason to run one winever parameter as opposed to another. Is it for API compatibility's sake? Is it for bug compatibility's sake? Thanks, ==================================================== Oliver Sampson olsam@quickaudio.com http://www.oliversampson.com

OT: Unix/Linux Training Online
This is a bit off topic but I was interested in taking some online classes. I currently have an associates degree in electronics tech from about 15 years back but was wanting to expand on that and learn more about linux. Oreillyschool.com has a somewhat affordable online certificate course in UNIX/linux admin. The downside is I do not know if there credits would ever transfer if I wanted to

64 bit
Hello, Presently I am considering using CentOS as my base OS. I am wondering about a few things though. I like KVirc as my irc program. I have had issue with compiling it in 64bit mode under Fedora 3 and was todl it was because Fedora installs both 32 and 64 bit libs and the compiler didn't understnad which to use. Will this be an issue with CentOS 4 also? If I install the 64 bit

Clarification Needed: DAG vs. rpmforge.
Dag in the thread about kvirc, I had pointed to dries repo, based on a list of repos I use *now*, that replaced your repo with rpmforge. This based on an instruction earlier that I should use rpmforge instead. So when I run my "yum --enablerepo=\* list...", it did not show your repo contents. Should I be including *both* rpmforge and dag? TIA Bill -------------- next part

Network problems
Has anybody faced network-problems with Wine? I'm running RH7 with kernel 2.4.0, have the following network-interfaces: ippp0 for ISDN, my internet connection vmnet1 for one VMWare-"machine" lo0 for whatever ;) I've set up nat & forwarding to get my vmware-client to access to net, as my isp gives only 1 dynamic ip for me. For Wine, I've copied all .DLL -files from my

Nortel IP phones?
Howdy- Has anyone on the list implemented Nortel IP telephones (the exact name escapes me at the moment) with *? Doing some work for a small trading firm which needs a phone to have the ability to dial into a improvised hoot-n-holler system (* conference), so it needs speakerphone, and multi-line capability. Also, I'm open to cisco phones, going to look at those now. Thx, -cedrick

smbclient, kerberos, and EMC
Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get smbclient to cooperate with my new EMC Celerra (just got it a little while ago) using kerberos. My windows domain environment is win2000 + sp4, the EMC is "joined" to the domain. I am using samba 3.0, fresh sources, and MIT KRB5 1.3.4, all freshly built. I join the domain, etc. everything is happy. I use kinit user@REALM to get my initial tgt.

Internet Explorer Install
I read the wine apps notes about Internet Explorer and searched through the mailing list. While installing MS Office 2000, It asked to reboot. I did less /c/windows/WinInit.ini. It says: [Rename] NUL=C:\WINDOWS\ttfCache The note in the IE apps section said to either remove this file or, better yet, do what it says. I don't understand what this is saying. I know that it is trying to

Poor-man's paging through multiple phones?
We're mostly Cisco CallManager with some SIP and Asterisk. I want someone at one of our locations to be able to dial and number and have Asterisk simultaneously dial several Call-Manager extensions which are set to auto-answer and talk into the phone creating a sort of paging system. We have informacast, but it is too cumbersome for the users. I know Asterisk can ring several phones at the

aaccli on recent conrollers?
I have just built a new SunFire X4100 server with an Adaptec 2230SLP RAID card using FreeBSD 6.2-PRE kernel (from September 20). Everything is working extremely well except I cannot run the aaccli utility on this controller. When I try to open the controller, it gives this error: Command Error: <The current AFAAPI.DLL is too old to work with the current controller software.> On

I'm seeing the following banner when I start up google-chrome 48-beta (48.0.2564.48 beta (64-bit)) on my 7.2 machines: This computer will soon stop receiving Google Chrome updates because this Linux system will no longer be supported. Does this portend a support issue for chrome on centos-7 in a few months when the underlying changes make their way into their -stable (since, as I

System DLLs
Are there "builtin" wine implementations of common Windoze DLLs (ntdll, kernal32, comdlg32, winsock etc) and if so, where do they reside? I am trying to get my own application to run using wine (without a recompile) and it continues to ask me for common windows dlls. I would like to try to get my application running without having to copy over all of the relevant windows dlls as I am

Which native dlls can be safely embedded?
When I heard you can use original Windows dlls in Wine, I wondered if there is a list of dlls for which that makes sense. Well, I still wonder. Is there something like that?
