User problem (samba, w2k3)
Hi there
Could you also join your krb5.conf and your pam.d/login files ?
I also have the same kind of problem, and I just would like to see
differences between our configurations ...
Thanks for reading !

Morpheus
Hopefully somebody can help me. I am trying to get Morpheus working under
Wine. The GUI works fine, searching works fine, but when I attempt to
download something, it fails. The download appears in the download tab,
but fails before I even switch over.
Does anybody have Morpheus working? What am I doing wrong? Any ideas
would be appreciated.

Kerberos ticket maximum renewable lifetime
We are using tmux, screen and x2go to run long-running jobs on our
compute servers. $HOME and other data should be mounted via CIFS or
NFS4. Because such a job can run for more than a week, I would like to
increase the Kerberos ticket lifetime or better the Kerberos ticket
maximum renewable lifetime.
I found this guide:

Samba and AD problem
I am following the examples section 9.3 in the "Samba 3 By Example" book.
I can SSH onto the samba server as an AD user but I cant mount a samba share.
If I run wbinfo -u or -g it shows the users and groups BUT it doesn't
show the short domain name, also if I run the getent commands they
shouw details but no domain name.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what may be wrong.

OGG in P2P networks?
I'm still looking for a P2P network (i.e. Gnutella, KaZaA, etc.) and client
that actively supports the OGG format. People have told me that since
Gnutella is so flexible that it is also possible to trade .ogg files. In reality, I
haven't seen a single client using the Gnutella network that could search and
truly FIND an .ogg file. Does anyone know of a network or specifically, a
client

Directdraw and Wine Compilation
Hi, I am trying to compile wine in an AMD64 Ubuntu machine, taking the
precautions needed shown in the winehq's wiki to do it. The
compilation finishes fine, but for some reason there is no support for
some things that used to have in the i386 pre-compiled package.
One of them is ALSA sound. I use ALSA because for some reason OSS
sometimes ruins the sound making it look like a loud scratch

4kB sector size HDDs
Hello again.
Do any of you have one of the 'new' HDDs with 4kB Sectors currently in use?
I would upgrade to the 4kB disks but I don't know if this might be
problematic as I intend to use ZFS w/ RAIDz or at least a classic RAID6.
How might this affect performance under 5.5 and how do I go about setting up
the alignment of the partitions I use?
Kind regards

The good old winecfg audio tab
Ok, I know this is probably very redundant, but I'm getting the Audio
tab crash with winecfg. The error output is:
wine: unhandled page fault on write access to *insert hex numbers here*
(thread 0009)
Modules: Cannot get info on modules while no process is loaded
etc.
After the last few hours spent surfing dozens of forums and threads,
none of the fixes have worked.

printer which is good. problem i had is the jobname in the logs is
smbprn_xxxxxxxx_xx (numbers) which is the samba job name. if joe bloggs

PATCH: Samba/Win2K renaming bug
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.1 + kernel 2.4.17. My
girlfriend's laptop is running Windows 2000 + service pack 2. She has
about a thousand MP3s stored on a Samba share on my RedHat machine. We
were finding that she couldn't rename any MP3s on the Samba share: she
would always get a sharing violation.
After a day of reading Samba logs at debug 10 (_such_ fun [ ;)

Hello, Help.......
I'm trying to set up a SAMBA server on a Redhat Linux 5.0 O/S
I'm a bit concerned however as to how stable my SAMBA is
Problem: Each time I execute the command "smbclient -L sambaservername" at
certain instances after about 5-10 mins it comes up with a different
browse list of the computers on the network (these r WIN95's),with a
different master browser

BIND9_DLZ with Ubuntu 20.04
On Ubuntu 20.04 I have provisioned a AD DC using samba-4.12 from Louis'
Repo and his instructions:
https://github.com/thctlo/samba4/blob/master/full-howto-Ubuntu18.04-samba-AD_DC.txt
In the output of:
samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --realm=XXX.XXX --domain=XXX
--dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ --adminpass=XXXxxx
I see this:

9x/NT/2000 clients with security=server
Hi,
I have a problem authenticating users using samba-2.0.6/Solaris 7 (sparc
ultra-1), using the security=server option.
We want to have a single print-server for both the UNIX and Windows
clients on our network. The windows machines authenticate user using
an NT4-domain.
I've setup samba so that it always runs as user 'lprsmb' used to print
to the UNIX-printserver with a wrapper
