Non-bootable PC after using ASPI via Wine
Many years ago I wrote a Windows program that needs a SCSI card. It addresses the SCSI card using ASPI. Unfortunately, when I run the app under Wine, I see some errors (all beginning with 'fixme:') which suggest that ASPI isn't yet fully implemented (and as such, the app doesn't work properly). However - much more worrying is the fact that after running this app I end up with a

is wine's ASPI suitable for firmware update?
Hi,
I have a PHILIPS CD-RW/DVD-ROM SCB5265 and I have problems reading of some
DVDs. I found two different firmware updates which contains .exe files:
TD17 (5/1/2007): http://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/PHILIPS-SCB5265-TD17.zip
TD19 (12/13/2005): http://ftp.us.dell.com/rmsd/SCB5265_fwTD19.zip
If I set up the IDE SCSI emulation, the firmware updater can recognize my
CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive.

aspi error ASPI_ExecScsiCmd in Wine
Has anyone encountered the same problem:
I want to read a special kind of floppies under Linux. These floppies can only be read by an USB floppy drive that is made by a company that also delivers a (Windows) program to read these floppies. It has a SCSI interface and it makes use of the aspi drivers.
The aspi dll's are copied to the correct locations in Wine.
Wine added 2 SCSI drives to the

Tron 2.0 & DirectX 9.0a
Tron 2.0 starts up, offers the init menu, and works fine until you try
and actually start the game. At that point, it goes blank for about 5
seconds and then says "To play tron 2.0, you need DirectX 9.0a and a
supported video card with hardware TnL."
If you go to the 'display' menu it says that the DX9 renderer is
selected, but has nothing listed for resolutions or displays. Is

Using ASPI with a pure IDE setup?
Hello everybody!
I'm using Wine with EAC (Exact Audio Copy). So I setup my computer
(kernel 2.6.12) with ide-scsi emulation. EAC works this way. But other
native programs started making trouble. The biggest issue is that I
can't write to CD/DVD anymore. I can write using ide-scsi in kernel 2.4
but in 2.6 it doesn't work anymore.
Is there a possibility that aspi calls work with a pure

Problems with ImgBurn, err:aspi:ASPI_GetNumControllers
I don't know exactly when, but something about my Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) installation has changed that seems to have broken Wine when it comes to detecting ASPI devices, because I get the following error.
Code:

I tried searching the forums with the Forums -> Search for info about this

ASPI support?
I've consulted the archives insofar as possible, but I can't ascertain
the status of ASPI support in WINE. Basically, I'm trying to get CD/DVD
Speed ( http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ ) to work, because thus far I'm not
seeing any Linux tools that will do media testing (C1/C2 error rates and
such).
I *think* the only relevant entry is: "fixme:aspi:ASPI_ExecScsiCmd
Failed"

aspi problems / ide-scsi emulation
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
my goal is to get either blindwrite suite (v4 or 5), isobuster or any
other app running that is able to create an iso of my playstation CDs.
I'm using a 2.6.11 kernel and thus cannot use the ide-scsi emulation
module to access my ide cd-rw. Adaptech's aspichk tool reports no aspi
layer present. As I understand this is necessary for wine

Trying to Run a Program, I get these errors
Hi,
I am new to wine. I am running Mac OSX 10.5 and the latest wine as installed by MacPorts. I am basically trying to run WINE in order to use one program I used on Windows - Extreme Sample Converter: I have read some posts on the net that say this is compatible with WINE.
However, when I run it (I have already installed it successfully) I get the following error message almost immediately:

ASPI problem
Having gotten WinOnCD to start (though the installer fails (*.msi
file)) by copying the files and registry from a windows install, I now
have an ASPI problem. I am able to erase a cdrw from within winoncd
and most of winoncd works pretty much as it should (but no drag'n drop
works). Writing a CD does however not work yet and it appears to be a
winaspi problem:

USB devices and Wine
I am trying to run the firmware upgrade software for my mp3 player under
wine. I had to hunt around to find that I needed DCOM98 for the
installer to work correctly. Now, the firmware installer is installed,
but it won't do its job.
I get an exception "fixme:aspi:SendASPI32Command ASPI: Partially
implemented SC_HA_INQUIRY for adapter 0."
I think it is trying to address the MP3

cdrw firmware update
Hello,
I need to do a firmware update for my cdrw and because of a missing linux
program for doing that I thought of using wine for trying it.
I call the programm FlashTool.exe and no error messages occur. (The
surface really looks great!) The programm detects correctly the flashable
cdrw-drive even with ide-scsi and the non-flashable cdrom. But then when I
click on "continue" nothing

EAC (exactaudiocopy) in openSUSE 10.2
Hello wine users:
Could someone, please, help me how to make work EAC with
wine in openSUSE 10.2?
Earlier (SUSE 10.1) I could configure wine to use windows
2000 as default windows version and EAC to use 'native Win32
interface for WinNT/2000/XP' and these worked together fine.
Now in openSUSE 10.2 (wine version wine-0.9.37-12.1) when I
start EAC with wine I get:

Re: Problems with ImgBurn, err:aspi:ASPI_GetNumControllers
Well, I finally found something of a solution. It's not ideal, but that may be down to my distro or my unfamiliarity with "udisks". I have to unmount the udisks auto-mounted optical device and then manually mount that drive to /media/cdrom0 (or wherever). At which point I can start ImgBurn and change the Interface (Tools->Settings->I/O->Page1) to SPTI. The drive can then
