Cannot Compile Wine
Hi, I have been trying to compile win, and to be honest, I am not real good at compiling, so when there is an error, I am left to hunting postings to try to find help. I lucked out and found a message thread with the exact same problem that I have, however, there was no response as to how to get around this. Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated. I am running Red Hat Linux 7.0. Here

Recent wines on RH7/kernel-2.4.0
I'm not running RedHat(running Debian rather), but I've run Wine under 2.4.0, 2.4.1 and 2.4.2-pre3 kernels without any trouble. Stupid question: where is the Preferences box?
Good day! I am GUI-challenged, and proud of it, but I would like a bit of help. When I start netscape (picked from an Earthlink CD) it raises a message box that says (this is picked from --debugmsg +text and folded for mailing convenience): trace:text:DrawTextExW L"Error: temporary directory E: does not exist. Please enter a new directory in the preferences box.", 99 , [(0,0),(264,0)]

Yet another Wine compile error
What is up with this stupid thing? Now it's giving me this strange error: "../../tools/winebuild/winebuild: error while loading shared libraries: unexpected reloc type 0x12" If someone would be so kind as to help out...again...It would be appreciated. -- Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the earth.

LANG=en_US, Xlib: connnection errors
This is odd but I'm trying to get the most elementary sides of WINE down. I have gotten it to attempt to run write.exe out of my windows directory. but upon doing so it comes up with the LANG errors which I don't think is catastrophic. (I might be wrong) and then it comes up with these errors: Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid MIT_MAGIC_COOKIE-1 key

During the compile of Wine, everything goes smoothly until I hit ntdll.spec. As soon as it enters the directory ntdll, it segfaults. Here's the full text of the error (we'll start at the point it enters the ntdll directory): make[2]: Entering directory '/root/wine/dlls/ntdll' LD_LIBRARY_PATH="../../unicode:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" ../../tools/winebuild/winebuild -fPIC

fatal signal 11
I downloaded the latest wine from the cvs site and ran its ./tools/wineinstall. It ran for quite a while and croaked on /wine/server/semaphore.c. Basically, gcc says "Internal compiler error: program cc1 bog fatal signal 11". The compiler is 2.91.66 (aka egcs-1.1.2 release) and compiles other programs including 2.4.1 & 2.4.2 Linux kernels just fine. I am puzzled what 'fatal

Need advice for application port
OK, I am definitely new to porting from Windows to Linux. You may have already seen my previous post about Winelib, ignore it for the time being. We have an app that dates back several developers, which of course no longer are available, and several years. We have had quite a few requests for a version that runs on Linux and hence the work to get the app ported. It is not a large app by most

How to get usb storage under /media in runlevel 3?
Hello I have previously used Centos 4.x in runlevel 3, when I plug in my usb storage device/cd in cd-rom, it is shown under /media, for example /media/MyUsbStick. Now in Centos 5.2, when I insert usb storage device, nothing is shown under /media (runlevel 3). When I have runlevel 5 and X running, usb stick / cdrom is automounted fine. I can mount the stick using /dev/xxx device, but would
