I've just moved over to Cups printing system and installed the 20010824 version of wine (with cops support) after removing a June 2001 version. Everything seem to work and Wine does recognize the printers on my system but when I print a document from Lotus Notes (5.05) nothing comes out of the printer. Our office has had a Brother MFC-8510DN for at least five years - no issues. As has been said below, you do have to download and install the driver but the process hasn't been problematic.
