R Data Manipulation - Transposing Data by a Given Column, Like User_ID
Hello,
I'd like to transpose data to create an analysis-friendly dataframe. See
below for an example, I was unable to use t(x) and I couldn't find a
function with options like PROC TRANSPOSE in SAS.
The ideal solution handles variable quantities of SITE - but beggars can't
be choosers. :-)
Thank you in advance,
Mike

VoIP Termination w/ 402 or 712 area code?
I realize this is a shot in the dark, but I'm trying to find a VoIP provider
that offers 402 or 712 area code DID numbers. I'm almost completely
convinced that no one offers these area codes (eastern Nebraska, western
Iowa), however considering the wide audience of this mailing list I thought
this would be a good place to ask.
I would prefer a provider that allows for Asterisk use, but I

Update successful. Thanks.
My desktop updated without a hitch... well, actually, I ran out of
disk space after the download completed, so had to clear some space,
but the update process continued from where I left off without a hitch
-- and that's hardly CentOS's fault. I've still got to update my
laptop, but am a little leery, because I think I've a got a hard drive
failing.
At any rate, thank you *again*

rumours of openssh vulnerability
Hi all,
There are rumours flying around about a supposed vulnerability in OpenSSH. Two
details which I've seen mentioned many times are
(a) that this exploit was used to break into a RedHat system running OpenSSH 4.3
plus backported security patches, and
(b) that "recent" versions of OpenSSH are not affected;
but it's not clear if there is any basis for these rumours.

Pretec Allegro does not appear to play Oggs
Can I change the wiki? The box claims it plays oggs, the tech. specs. in
the booklet claims it plays oggs, *some* places on the website claims it
supports oggs, but it doesn't actually play my oggs. Can I move it to a
"misadvertised" section, or a "rumours" section, or what can I do to
indicate this to other people, so they don't accidentaly buy it?

Asterisk Viruses?
The Skype network is circulating a virus that has appeared there
before:
http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=198500135 . The virus sends a URL to other Skype users in the infected user's contacts, which the target Skype displays as clickable. Clicking downloads the virus. Asterisk supports features like these, in combination with certain clients (which aren't

Problems with cbtplayer
Hi,
One of the main things I use Wine for is to run a Computer Based
Training Player (cbtplayer, info found at www.smartforce.com).
It used to work perfect on 20001222 and back several version from that.
Since the 20010112 release, it has failed. I reload the 20001222 and am
back in business.
I posted the zipped debug output for download if anybody that can read
this (most of it looks Chinese

information about XP <-> samba ?
I'm thinking about upgrading our NT4-clients to XP in the near future
and I want to know how well XP is supported by SAMBA in the recent
samba-versions.
I found many single statements in usenet, but I wonder if there is a
kind of XP-FAQ out there. (The one at samba-page is very outdated)
Especially I need to know how well XP integrates in a existing
NT4-domain (samba as PDC).
Then I need

Apache warns Web server admins of DoS attack tool
Anyone have any idea how soon RHEL and CentOS will be releasing the patch
package?
Excerpt:
Computerworld - Developers of the Apache open-source project today
warned users of the popular Web server software that a denial-of-service
(DoS) tool is circulating that exploits a bug in the program.
The tool, called "Apache Killer," showed up last Friday in a post to the

For people who are looking for some objective
numbers to help recommend Samba to their employers (I
know there are some of you on this list :-) you might

The first one is in Smart Reseller (a USA trade press

Zoom enhancements
I'll be working on zoom during Google summer of code, to get it to
work better with existing accessibility software. Basicly get it to
communicate with tools like Orca.
Because this relies on input enabled zoom, there are some issues I
like to clear up before I start. I don't want to directly base my work
on any of the two publicly available zoom plugins. This means I'll be
creating a

R/C++ interfaces: crashes when using .c(), followed by correct results when R restarted
Dear all
I have written a function in C++ , equil_distC, that I am calling from an R script.
In the last few days, R has repeatedly crashed when calling this function, or delivered obviously wrong outputs. However, when I restarted R after the crash, the results turned out to be OK most of the time although I had not modified the C++ code.
Although the code runs correctly now, I am not sure

Applying dynamic compression to live audio
Hi:
I want to stream audio from my soundcard, but I'd like to apply some
dynamic compression to it first (ala winamp's audiostocker plus shoutmuxer
thingy). I heard rumours of compression in liveice, but Iv'e been told
that this only works when it plays from prerecorded MP3, not the live
input. I'd like to do this with darkice, but can't see how it could be
done. I guess

graphic question
Hi,
I want to use R for some data mining project , and was wondering if it has
any intercative graphical features?
For example, is it possible to plot a histogram and be able to select a
specific point on it and have all the data about it? or select a specific
area in a curve and have all the data about it? or possibilities to zoom
out and in?
Thank you for your help,
