Performance in Half-Life
I got it working with wine, yay... And it's entirely playable but two
problems puzzle me.
Number one: The sound is lagging behind. I shoot and then about 1 second
later, the gun makes a noise. Now the gun fires instantly but the sound
is just delayed. (the same with all sound in half-life, no other game
though).
Anyone else had this problem?
Number two: Performance is still rather poor.

Starcraft & Keyboard Problems
I'm sorry if this is a re-post - I switched news servers and it's not
showing up on the new one. Here goes:
I'm trying to run Starcraft fullscreen using xinit:
xinit /usr/bin/wine ./starcraft.exe -- /usr/X11R6/bin/X :1 -screen Starcraft
This runs SC in full-screen mode, no window manager, a separate X
server, DGA-enabled, the whole 9 yards. Starcraft starts and looks
great.

guitar pro 5.2 runs of out of gdi handles
On both wine 1.3.15 and 1.3.17, guitar pro 5.2 has a tendency to crash
after a while. Wine gives the error message that it ran out of gdi
handles and expect crashes.
Trigger unknown.

GCC is smart enough to realize it doesn't return. That's because the
declaration of abort() is decorated with __attribute__((__noreturn__)).
So is GCC smarter than VC++? As it turns out, in VC++ the declaration
of abort() is decorated with __declspec(noreturn).
Whidbey is not stricter than 2003, it is merely buggier. VC++ has
always complained about functions failing to return a

RE: Bootitng and CDShell...
Hi!
Although it may seem so, this is the wrong place to put your question.
Please contact the CDShell developer.

RE: Bootitng and CDShell...
Hello,
Can anyone help me?
Does any of you manage to load (boot) Bootitng through CDShell?
How can I ensure that diskemu emulates a 1.44MB floppy?
Any ideas?
Thank you

removing for loop
Dear Rusers,
Trying to reduce my for loops addiction,
could somebody tell me if there are ways to simplify
(and perhaps accelerate ?) the following line
for (i in 1:N) for (j in 1:N) m[i,j] = b[i]-b[j];
(where m is a NxN matrix and b a vector of length N)
Thanks for any hint.

wine.conf and starcraft
Hi,
I just downloaded the .rpm for wine version 20010629 and I have gotten
it to work, but I can't find wine.conf anywhere, how do I configure wine?
Also I have gotten it to run starcraft, but there are two problems:
Doubleclicking doesn't work, and neither do it seem to respond to the
keyboard.

RAID advice? and KVM advice?
Hello All,
In the not too distant future I will be commissioning a new CentOS
(5.4?) box with 4 identical SATA drives. I'd like to set them up as
RAID 1+0 for speed and redundancy. I've read the RHEL 5 deployment
guide on raid setup and it seems to cover the basics of software raid
pretty well, but doesn't cover 1+0. Does anyone have a reference for

ftp issue in Centos 5.3
I manage a small server that I back up weekly. I do this by making a
tarball of relevant files then transferring it over the local subnet
to my station (Fedora 11), whereupon I burn it to DVD. There is no
optical burner on the server. The tarball amounts to a bit under 5
gigs. Recently I've started getting an error telling me to try PASV or
PORT first. I use the gFTP client on my
