suggestions for createdump.sh improvements
Hi, recently I've tried the script createdump.sh and I have some suggestions: * it would be nice if the script is able to detect missing prerequisites and to suggest to install appropriate packages (as with cvs), namely - SDL-devel - libXvMC-devel (the names will differ from distro to distro, but it can make a good starting point; other ones come as dependencies, at least in my case) * it

Trying to run (tweak) a few games on Wine
Hello, I'm a relatively new user to Linux, it's only been two weeks since I'm using it. I'm trying to run two games right now : Halo and Live for Speed. Here are the issues for each. Halo : Performance in Halo is excellent, it's actually better in Linux than it was in Windows XP. Frame rate is good, looks like solid 60 FPS all the time. The only problem is the mouse movement

Hello, I'm trying to use Theora video codec with DirectX 8 and DiretX 7. The problem seems to be out format of Theora decoder wich is YV12 and incompatible with DirectShow Video Renderer Filter. Error running Guild Wars with .9.3
Hello all, I gave this a stab a few months ago but gave up and just set up a dual boot. I'm running low on disk space now and tired of messing with the muliple partitions, so I'm giving it another go to get Guild Wars running in Linux. I'm runing Wine 0.9.3 on Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). I'm able to go through the instillation without issue, but when it actually tries to

EPSXE under WINE.
Hello. This thread is to help anyone having problems with using EPSXE psx emulator in WINE. EPSXE can work in WINE, only if you install directx in WINE. WINE alone does not have directx installed with it but EPSXE requires directx to function. You would need to install directx using any game which has "Install DirectX" or something similar. The redist packages for directx found online

Large hard disk support in FreeBSD
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'd like to put a 60GB hard disk into Gateway 2000 Pentium 150 (from '96 or '97 or so I think) running FreeBSD 4.8 RELEASE. Can anybody tell me how successful this is likely to be? Will I be able to use the full capacity of the drive? I seem to recall that the trick with large hard disks and old BIOSes is to disable the drive in

hmac format?
I was looking at the the way that ssh calculates an hmac, and I noticed that the ordering is a little strange - it does hash(key+message). Shouldn't this rather be hash(message+key)? In the former situation, it could be possible for an attacker to append something to the end of the data being sent. The attacker would be able to calculate a valid hmac without knowing the key. For instance,

Dovecot crash in 1.0.9
I've been having a problem with a crashing Dovecot the last couple of months where it crashes after a couple of weeks of uptime. Been a bit difficult to diagnose. Anyway, we're now running 1.0.9 on a Sun Fire T1000 running Solaris 10. Any good ideas on how to pin-point the problem? - Peter Here's the output from syslog when the last crash happened: May 14 11:46:50 ifm.liu.se

idmap uid allocation problem
Hi, we've had a machine happily authenticating to an ADS domain for about a year now, and it's recently stopped working (possibly due to changes in the domain or a samba upgrade, unfortunately I'm not sure). We're using an ldap idmap backend running on the local machine. Now though, new domain users can't log in. Running "wbinfo -i newuser" returns an error.

Tables
Hi, I am just starting using R. Hence, sorry for asking probably rather easy questions. I used "read.table" to bring an .txt Table to R. Unfortunately the columns do not have the same length. I tried "fill=TRUE", to fill the blank space with "na". In a certain kind of way it worked, but befor filling the spaces it moved data from later columns to the first: 1

Mount/automount fails with krb5-enabled nfs4
I have a problem that is driving me crazy. Our nfs server is running Solaris. Most clients mount directories from it with no problems, but not all. All clients that have problems run CentOS (5.4 and 5.5). I've found one or two of each version that fail, but also a couple of each version that work. The mounting is done for user home directories via autofs but that doesn't seem to make any
