NeTraverse going under
Is it true that NeTraverse just went under? Does anyone know any details?
Do they have and plans to put Win4Lin into the public domain so that the
Linux community can continue to support it?

NeTraverse Win4Lin 5.0
Anybody get win4lin 5.0 running on CentOs? I have a Ibm Thinkpad 600
running centos 3.3. I tried running the win4lin installer which
downloaded a supported kernel and installed but when I went to reboot
the laptop, the drivers for my wireless card were missing along with usb
support. Then when the laptop went into run level 5 nothing happens.
Then the x server throughs an error about a bad config.

Wine without a Windows partition
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Is it possible to setup wine without a Windows partition? I have a Debian 2.2-r2 system
and want to run a few Windows apps, mostly games, but don't want to go through all the
bs of resizing a partition, creating a new one and putting Windows on my laptop. Any
chance of being able to do it without a dedicated partition?

AutoCAD 14 with wine... anyone have any luck with this?
It looks bad from the (possibly outdated) list on the winehq web site. I
am also extremely interested in running r14 on Wine or possibly some
other emulator. Any suggestions other than WINE???

Kernel Question
OK- A dumb question. Will a "generic"(kernel.org) kernel work with Centos 4?
My reason for asking- I'm needing to upgrade from RH9, and would rather
go ahead and go with 4 for the 2.6 kernel, but I need a patched kernel
(Win4Lin), and I'm not sure they will offer a prepatched version (though
they probably will for EL4).
Thanks!

Win4Lin, MYOB, Samba & Performance
I'm having performance problems that seem to involve SAMBA in the
equation so I thought I'd ask if there was something obvious I'm
stuffing up or a known anomoly.
A mate of mine runs MYOB Premier (the brilliant (not!) multi-user
accounting package which claims to not support SAMBA (or visa versa).
I've had it running glitch free for two years on a Samba share off a
linux box.

Office (2K) options on Linux
I am just starting to migrate towards Linux (RedHat 7.1 Burned and one
trial install on another machine went well).
However I do alot of work for other companies on Office
(EspeciallyExcel) (generally 2K) and would like to be able to do so
without rebooting. AFAICT I have a few options.
One is to have a dedicated windows box and use a program such as VNC or

My "needs". Can Wine be a solution for me?.
Hello all:
I need to use MS Access 97 and MS Word 97 in my job. I need too to visit
every day a web that is designed to be viewed exclusively with MS Internet
Explorer.
These are the things that keep me attached to Windows 98. I tried to solve
the paranoic constant rebooting of the computer with a VMWare virtual
machine but it's too resource-wasting. Before beginning to spend time on

Xara X Install or Execute
I'm trying to run Xara X either from native windows directory or from
local fake windows directory. When I run it from windows dir, I get the
splash screen and then it hangs. When I try to install locally (using
msi installer) it doesn't work.
Anybody have this installed or running? This is the last thing I need
for a fully functional DTP box! It would be a shame to have to quit

Microsoft "Windows for Linux"
-cross posted to comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine-
Microsoft should consider producing "Windows for Linux". It could be their
own version of Wine, but it would be nearly 100% compatible with the latest
version of Windows. Microsoft could require that users have a retail copy of
Windows to make this work.
It's a win-win situation. Linux users could run nearly all of the available

Quickbooks Pro 2000 on Win4Lin
Has anyone been able to make the Quickbooks Delivery Agent work under
Win4Lin? I find that it slows the system down to a crawl and it never
completes it's task. Removing the Delivery Agent is not a great solution
because Quickbooks won't perform certain functions, like writing a
paycheck, without it. Has anyone tried Quickbooks Pro 2001 under Win4Lin?
does it work any better?
Thanks,

rsync not prompting for username, only password
Hi guys, can anyone suggest why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not
prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a
password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a
corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a
password.

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and
username with rsync.
I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a
corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange
thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf
(unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as

configuring samba as a PDC
Hello. I am new to Samba, so if my questions are basic, please forgive me.
A few weeks ago, I managed to get Samba running on my BSD/OS 2.1 server.
The samba version is 1.9.15p4 as supplied by default with this OS
distribution.
Everything seems to work well on it. The shares are accessible OK. We also
had an NT 4.0 server on our LAN that was the PDC. Unfortunately, it died a
horrible death last

Guest OS installed in wine?
Hi!
I would like to install Win98SE as a guest operating system on my Linux
Mandrake. Is it possible using wine? If so, how to do it? Shall I leave the
free Win partition that will be used during this installation process, or
maybe it's not necessary? And do you know anything about the possibilities
of windows installed in this way: will all my games and programs run
properly?
Also the sound

Problem with Samba on Home Network
I have Samba set up on my Gentoo Linux Box. Our access to the internet
is through a broadband modem/router. Internet access in all instances is
fine. The problem is that one computer is not showing up in even its own
Network Neighborhood. I can access the files on this computer though
from the other computer.
Samba setup is as follows:
