Abiword as test of Wine
One problem with Wine has been that there were few serious open source win32 applications out there to test Wine with (ok, maybe my opinions are from 1997 :-) In any case, we have some great open source Win32 applications to test with. AbiWord is one. I just tried installing AbiWord 0.9 under the latest Codeweavers preview. The install worked -- but generated about a billion warnings of the

dialplan game
Has anyone built a game with the dialplan? I would think this would most easily be managed by an AGI, but its possible with realtime extensions. The game would be like 'adventure' that I first played on a prime in 1979. Or any of the infocom games (ie zork). Infact since the infocom spec is known it might be possible to plug in the data files directly from an AGI. If anyone has done

jack
Installing alsa and jack libraries places devices for these in the winecfg menus. If I choose jack, what I would expect is that the wine instance would init jack clients for audio in and out and midi in and out (not really jack but jack can connect these as well). The jack out clients might be connected to the default alsa device, etc. This is normal for jack aware applications. I do not see

More WineX Build Problems
I downloaded a newer copy of WineX from the CVS, using WinCVS (Pesky winmodem doesn't work with Linux). I copied it to my linux partition & did a ./configure . To my surprise, an error was returned! bash: ./configure: No such file or directory I'm confused. What am I doing wrong (Yes, I'm a pathetic newbie)? Anybody have any ideas?

is there a wine "rpm" or similar pls?
I am v v newbie, want to get to grips with linux but mostly interested in using the PC; so the idea of wine appeals a lot. from what I see you generally have to build or compile or something it. Is there a rpm package, if I am using the term correctly, like a windows self-installing thing, i.e. one single file I can download, click on, it goes thru a (preferably non-interactive, I am happy

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
My file is 3 hours long, so decoding takes around 5 minutes on an average computer. That is a bit too long unfortunately... Upsampling while decoding / Updating
Dear Nikos, thanks! But you use Opus only for resampling, not for entirely replacing Speex, don't you? Greetings! JACK compatible SIP/IAX client (related : Asterisk JACK application)
Hello list, I'm looking for a SIP/IAX client that would hook its audio on the JACK audio server on the client host. I first tried to use the Asterisk JACK application, installing an Asterisk instance on the client host, but I got mitigated results : the host runs a RT kernel (necessary for my use of JACK) but each time a new call is started, it triggers Xruns. Not good. Also, during the call,

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
Sorry, it seems I have only replied to Lakhdar, not to the newsgroup. Below is my reply to Lakhdar, and I would like to make it more clear now, using some pseudo values for simplicity: I read bytes 1 to 124 from my encoded spx file. I decode themt and get the values: ---Frame 1---- -293 -8234 2134 17 ---Frame 2---- -9323 -732 189 2329 Both frames are just perfect as I need them. But now when I

Upsampling while decoding / Updating
Dear Nikos, thank you very much for your advice! I am not a little bit new to C++, and experiments (like using another third party library) always turn out to be days of work for me. That is why I would first like to try Speex's new internal resampling function. I am currently still using the old 1.0.4 version. I have now downloaded the new 1.2rc1 version. Unfortunately it does not want

An input channel for JACK ?
Hello everybody, I have installed wine and been using it for long (for example for WoW :D) and everything works very well ! Ok, you'll probably find that strange if I'm coming here and post something, it's a pity it's generally not the use. Anyway, my problems are : - I'm Franch, so that's not as if communicating was so easy ; ;) - I use the Jack sound server with a

What audio apps have been tested with Jack??
Hi, I know that jack support in Wine is very new. I am not able to get any sound from it in my setup. In my setup Jack is tested and working with a number of native Linux apps as both a user and as root, so I presume that the problem is either the Windows apps I've tried, or the Wine implementation of Jack support. What Windows apps have been tested in Wine (not WineX) using Jack?
