Hi All,
I'm really new to wine and I was interested in using it so that I can
write my documentation in Word 2000 and kill the evil half of my hard
drive.
I've been running into some problems getting it to work though and I was
wondering if anyone had any advice on the best way to set this up. I've
tried to install wine and run the Word executable that lives on the

Wizardry 8
I have spent the past few hours trying to get Wizardry 8 to run. Well,
it mostly works: The installer runs fine. I had to use a crack because
otherwise Wizardry complained about a debugger running. I have set it
up to use OpenGL graphics at 640x480x16 and "Miles Fast 2D Positional
Audio" for sound.
The movies get played, video and sound is properly synchronized, too.

I'm trying to install Microsoft Word 2002 on Wine, version 1.1.0, running on ubuntu hardy heron, from a dvd called Microsoft Works Suite 2004 (German) that came bundled with my computer, and I've run into some kind of endless loop.
This is what happens:
- I d-click setup.exe on the dvd, wine starts and the setup menu is shown.

Hi All,
I'm new to wine and have it running on my machine (I can play
solitaire). I would like to use it to run word under Linux but I'm
having a bit of a problem with that program. I'm running Debian
(testing) and accessing my Windows partition (w2k) which is mounted read
only. The Word that I am running is part of the Office 2000 suite.

I'm trying to learn about the tcltk package and its uses. Floundering
around a bit ... Have discovered Peter Dalgaard's articles in R-News,
which should help. Also James Wettenhall's suite of examples look like
they might be enlightening, even though the indications are that they

Windoze oriented.

How to handle Java script pop up when you click on a button to perform some action to DB
Hi
I have a button which when clicked opens a JS pop up for confirmation,
confirming which, basically scrubs my DB and so takes a minute to
complete its action.
When I was using watir, I use to put in following code which use to
work, but when switching to Rspec, it gives error so not sure what
should I be replacing here:

If statement based on a action
Question for you all is it possible to use an action in an if
statement? I am using the same form for edit and new and I have a
cancel button on the page.
This cancel button is built with an if statement that looks right now
to see if a parameter exists to define where to go back to if the
user cancel. The problem occurs when the user submits the form and
there are missing fields by

eliminating cancel button in winDialogString call
I would like to use the function winDialogString to get input from a user to
a program but would like to eliminate the cancel button option and just have
the OK button appear. The problem is that if a user enters data then
accidently hits Cancel instead of OK, the program may either run incorrectly
or quit due to the error of having NULL for a variable. I can think of some
unsophisticated ways

Wondering if there is a document that tells how to get wine printing through
a cups printer working? Yes I know the wine docs say it's all magic and if
you're using cups your printing will magically work, but for some reason, it
doesn't, my wine session crashes and burns when I try to print from the
built in notepad (or any other apps I've tried: in particular, Lotus

I have an full ajax app doing crud operations for contact info for one
section. I was using ajax calls to edit and cancel and also to add a
contact. I am implementing a button_to_function instead of doing an
ajax call to just edit/add/or cancel a contact. I am running into a
memory issue using the button_to_function or link_to_function.

I have downloaded and compiled/installed wine 1.1.11, so that I may use a windows program called WinMX 3.54b4 [32 bit] on my linux opensuse distro. I had been advised that Wine versions higher than this do not work well with WinMX. At the end of the compile it tells me that libgphoto2-32bit was not found and that cameras won't work. Installer says I've run out of disc space
Hi, I'm trying to install a MUD client on my macbook pro with wine. It's called portal, you can get it here:

I used my windows computer to make the file self-extract, then I copied the folder that had setup.exe inside it to my macbook pro desktop. I then double-clicked setup.exe and it opened with wine.
