NeTraverse going under
Is it true that NeTraverse just went under? Does anyone know any details?
Do they have and plans to put Win4Lin into the public domain so that the
Linux community can continue to support it?

Quickbooks Pro works on Corel Wine
Quickbooks Pro works Purrrrrfectly on Corel Wine. It looks good, works
good and prints good. The only caveat is that when it is running, you
cannot launch Wordperfect as well - it is an either or situation.
Cheers,
Herman

Quickbooks Pro 2003 installed will not run
This is my first attempt at using wine and crossover. I want to run two
applications Quicken Premier 2003 and Quickbooks Pro 2003. I first tried
installing with just wine, wine-20050524-1fc3winehq.athlon.rpm, and ran
into immediate install failures with Quicken. So I down loaded
crossover's trial version and have installed both applications.
Quicken seems to be completely functional, did see

Quickbooks Pro 2001
I moved a Quickbooks Pro file to our Samba server (v 2.0.7) during an effort
to centralize some stuff in our organization. Before moving the file to the
samba server it was shared from a users NT Workstation. I don't consider
this a viable long term solution. Anyway ... here it goes with my problem
report .... :-)
So I moved the Quickbooks file to the Samba server, setup an Accounting

Installing Quickbooks Pro 2007 .NET issues
I'm having a bit of trouble getting QuickBooks Pro 2007 installed on my Ubuntu 9.10 machine. I'm using wine version 1.2-rc2.
First, I deleted the .wine directory to start fresh, then I installed dot net 2.0 using winetricks, then ran "wine setup.exe" from the installation CD.
The installer starts, does the license agreement, I enter the CD key, and it moves on to the

Problems installing Quickbooks Pro 99 under Wine
I'm running Gentoo linux and Wine 20031016 installed from a Gentoo ebuild.
I'm trying to install and run Quickbooks Pro 99. Wine has created a ~/.wine
directory for me with a collection of files therein which appear to be the
proper ones. I have mounted the QB99 install CD on /mnt/cdrom and cd'd to
that directory and run autorun.exe under wine.
A warning dialog pops up almost right

Win4Lin, MYOB, Samba & Performance
I'm having performance problems that seem to involve SAMBA in the
equation so I thought I'd ask if there was something obvious I'm
stuffing up or a known anomoly.
A mate of mine runs MYOB Premier (the brilliant (not!) multi-user
accounting package which claims to not support SAMBA (or visa versa).
I've had it running glitch free for two years on a Samba share off a
linux box.

NeTraverse Win4Lin 5.0
Anybody get win4lin 5.0 running on CentOs? I have a Ibm Thinkpad 600
running centos 3.3. I tried running the win4lin installer which
downloaded a supported kernel and installed but when I went to reboot
the laptop, the drivers for my wireless card were missing along with usb
support. Then when the laptop went into run level 5 nothing happens.
Then the x server throughs an error about a bad config.

Quickbooks IE 6 requirement
I've installed quickbooks 06/07 under Ubuntu 810 using Wine 1.1.4. I've also installed IE6 using the ies4linux tool. I can start IE6, but when I start Quickbooks through wine I get this error:
'This version of QuickBooks requires Mircosoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later).

Debian Sarge (testing), Samba 3.0 RC4 and Quickbooks
Debian and Samba Teams:
I'm having a really weird problem with Samba 3.0Beta2+RC4 on my Debian
Sarge (testing) system with Quickbooks Pro 2002 multi-user
version.
The version of my question is: Does anybody know what the proper global,
share, and permissions settings should be to support multi-user Quickbooks
on a Samba share?
The Long Version:

Quickbooks 2008 - How can I get this functional?!
So, I got Quickbooks 2008 working in the latest WINE, and Ubuntu 11.04. Problems happen when I try and open an existing company file. It wants to update, and then updating fails, and then the whole shebang fails to load after that. I even tried copying the Quickbooks folder from the other system (just need to change the license) to make the updates more complete. Same exact problem. It crashes on

Quickbooks and Samba and Oplocks... OH MY
It is widely known that Quickbooks has a horrible storage engine, "requires" Windows to host multiuser access, etc. However, I've successfully been storing QuickBooks files on Samba shares at a handful of locations with no real issues other than slight performance degradation. However, a somewhat recent thread here mentioned the proper use of oplock'ing in the Samba configuration

oplocks, QuickBooks (Samba 3)
Hi there,
Can somebody please explain to me why Samba 3 requires 'oplocks = no' on
shares for programs like Quickbooks to operate properly with multiple
users, where Samba 2 didn't?
Without this option, Quickbooks will complain about file corruption when
a second user tries to open a file.
This option, however, makes the particular share that the option is
present in _very_ slow

Quickbooks 8.1 lockup
Using Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.1.3
Application is Quickbooks 8.1. I have succesfully run this app in 7.04 with older wine version.
I'm finding that the menu's with arrow up & down seem to crash Quickbooks and wine. Not using the arrows but when you go all the way to the top or bottom. A restart is then needed to get Quickbooks to open up again.
Any ideas? As I say this worked great

Can't write QuickBooks file to Samba share
On a server that has been running smoothly since it was setup, and with no
changes to configurations or network or anything, users cannot save a shared
QuickBooks file. they have been regularly using, updating and saving to this
file for a few months. All users are able to create and update other files in
the same share. I have not confirmed if they are able to create and update new

CodeWeavers apparantly has Quickbooks running (unsupported) under CrossOver
Office 1.2. (Quicken running supported, for what *that* is worth...)
Codeweavers puts its code back into Wine; the only thing they don't is
anything
