Problems with a .fon font
I'm trying to run a program under wine which includes three fonts which are
installed by the program. Two are TrueType and they work correctly. The other
is a .fon font, but when I run the program, every character displayed in that
font looks the same - the glyph whose code is 0x80 seems to be used to
represent every character. I've looked at the font using fontforge and there

Truetype and Opentype font in pdf device
Deal all,
I want to know if truetype or opentype fonts are available in pdf
device (i.e., pdf() or dev.copy2pdf()), and if so, how to do it?
Now I can do as followings:
1. convert ttf to afm using ttf2afm, e.g.: $ ttf2afm Impact.ttf > Impact.afm
2. put the afm file in $R_HOME/library/grDevices/afm
3. register a new type1 font: pdfFonts(Impact=Type1Font("Impact",

Hint for Wine + Type1 + FrameMaker / Update for the Font HOWTO
Hi Avi,
Having spend endless hours looking for how to make Wine and Type1 fonts
working together. I finally decided to convert my Type1 fonts to Truetype
(after a hint by someone that Wine does not have Type1/Adobe support).
Note: I'm not sure if this is true since there is a wine [afmdirs] section
in the wine config. Wine still had troubles with (at least) some of the
files.

[ANNOUNCE] font-misc-ethiopic 1.0.4
This minor maintenance release rolls up the past decade's worth of fixes &
cleanups.
Of particular note:
This package contains two font versions: TrueType and OpenType.
One may want to install only one of them and (re)generate font.scale
for this introduce two new config options:
--disable-opentype-install and --disable-truetype-install

TrueType-font (codeweavers)
Hi,
I'm using a special middle-high-german truetype-font, which is using the
characters 128-159. But Linux/unix is using this part of the font for a
copy of the special-characters 0-32.
Is there any possibility to get access to this character-range in wine, or
in Linux itself?

Font Question...
Looking at the documentation on using TrueType fonts in Wine
at:
http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main#
TTFONT-SERVER
It indicates that the xfsft package is required, and gives a
link to the author's page. However, looking at that page,
the author indicates that xfsft is obsolete, and all it's
features are integrated into the main branch of XFree86.

scalable fonts problem on Linux
Hello R users,
I can't do demo(graphics) on my Linux box because it aborts after giving me
this message on the third plot:
Error in title(main = "January Pie Sales", cex.main = 1.8, font.main = 1) :
X11 font at size 22 could not be loaded
I assume from a previous message in this mailing list that this is a
Helvetica font that needs to be rescaled. To address this problem

Problems with fonts on linux using GDD
Hi
Apologies for this question.
I have read the help for GDD and font mapping, and it tells me that the
config file, /usr/lib/R/library/GDD/fonts/basefont.mapping is
responsible for mapping fonts to the GDD library.
However:

TrueType fonts, 3d modellers and wine
Hello,
Many 3d modellers can use TrueType fonts to create 3D objects of words.
Lightwave and Behemont are two that spring to mind. I can't find any on
linux.
However, both lightwave and behemont give me the error:
fixme:commdlg:CFn_WMInitDialog No font found with truetype only,
dropping flag
This is after the font has been correctly displayed in a "font
selection" box. The

zero font size on word 97
Hi, I'm running wine 20010112 compiled from sources, installed under
suse 6.2. I have an installed win98 partition with word 97.
When I run Word the document text (new and existing documents) is very
small and the escape length is zero (all characters appear on top of
each other). As a sanity check, notepad seems to work fine. Menus and
toolbars also display OK. I've checked google and

"Wine cannot find the FreeType font library."
Whenever I try running a Windows executable thru the terminal, Wine gives me the following.
Code:
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5.
I've tried devnulling the output but the message keeps appearing. The executable I need to use works like it's supposed to, but Wine opens

Font confusion
In my attempts to get Fractal Mapper
(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3117) to work I am a bit
confused about the behaviour of text and fonts.
The application's documentation says you should be able to use any
TrueType fonts. I see a menu with the fonts I have on the system. If
I select one of them and enter some text I see the text as I enter it,
but when I finish it disappears.

[LLVMdev] Named Address Spaces
Hello,
I am a student trying to find out if LLVM can be used for the Embedded C
architecture that I will be developing tools for at work. In LLVM 2.2
Christopher Lamb contributed support for Multiple Address Spaces into the
LLVM IR, and I was wondering if llvm-gcc is able to use this
functionallity. If so, what syntax is used to assign address spaces, and
what files are needed for the address

Symbol Fonts under Wine
Hello!
I have a specialized math typesetting programming that uses its own
special symbol fonts. The fonts are TrueType. I am using XFree86
version 4.0.1 running on FreeBSD 4.2, with the FreeType module loaded.
All of my regular TrueType fonts work fine with X programs and under
Wine. The symbol TrueType fonts work fine with X programs (such as
xfontsel or xfd), but under Wine, many of the
