TrueType fonts, 3d modellers and wine
Hello, Many 3d modellers can use TrueType fonts to create 3D objects of words. Lightwave and Behemont are two that spring to mind. I can't find any on linux. However, both lightwave and behemont give me the error: fixme:commdlg:CFn_WMInitDialog No font found with truetype only, dropping flag This is after the font has been correctly displayed in a "font selection" box. Problem with grid's text-based units and TrueType fonts
Hi all: I'm using grid to create a layout in R that will include text mixed with graphics. In the layout, the positions of certain graphical elements depend on the number of lines in adjacent text blocks (which will vary from case to case). I was hoping to use grid's built in functions to automate the placement of the graphical elements. I can get this to work if I use the standard pdf

X11() and XFree4.1.0 (and probably also MS truetype fonts)
Dear all, I updated ('almost' painlessly =) ) the XFree version of my suse distribution 7.1 (could not wait any longer as the screensaver was crashing everything with irregular periodicity)... I have now Xfree 4.1.0 running (with OpenGL 3D going through the Mesa library), and I downloaded MS truetype fonts (as suggested by Mr. Suse). R seems to work... except (so far) the output of the

tomcat5 from jpackage 1.6 on cento4 w/ java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.08-1jpp
Is anyone running tomcat5 from jpackage 1.6 on cento4 w/ java-1.4.2- sun-1.4.2.08-1jpp ? I'm getting weird dependencies which don't make sense, notably: Error: Missing Dependency: jdk = 2000:1.5.0_02-fcs is needed by package java-1.5.0-sun-compat I want to use 1.4.2 not 1.5 and it doesn't make sense to have jdk = 2000:1.5.0_02-fcs, unless I'm missing something? I do have

Truetype and Opentype font in pdf device
Deal all, I want to know if truetype or opentype fonts are available in pdf device (i.e., pdf() or dev.copy2pdf()), and if so, how to do it? Now I can do as followings: 1. convert ttf to afm using ttf2afm, e.g.: $ ttf2afm Impact.ttf > Impact.afm 2. put the afm file in $R_HOME/library/grDevices/afm 3. register a new type1 font: pdfFonts(Impact=Type1Font("Impact",

tomcat5 from jpackage 1.6 on cento4 w/java-1.4.2-sun-1.4.2.08-1jpp
Is there any documentation telling you whether tomcat5 was compiled against the 1.4.2 tree or the 1.5? You could try downloading the srpm, patching it to use the 1.4.2 java and then re-create your own rpm. Just a thought, might be an easier way though; will wait for the experts response. -----Original Message----- From: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] On

Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x20fb)!
Hi all I am trying to make wine load SourceSafe. After long f...ing with truetype fonts and constantly crashing xfs, I moved all my truetype font paths into XF86Config and now wine does not crash during the calculation of font metrics. Thanks to FAQs. Now, on wine startup, after rather long font refresh, I constantly get Xlib error. See subject. What's wrong with my Xlib (from XFree86

TrueType-font (codeweavers)
Hi, I'm using a special middle-high-german truetype-font, which is using the characters 128-159. But Linux/unix is using this part of the font for a copy of the special-characters 0-32. Is there any possibility to get access to this character-range in wine, or in Linux itself? (Suse 7.0, KDE 2.1, Xfree 4.0.3) -- Tsch??, Ralf * Dr. Ralf Schlechtweg-Jahn * University of Bayreuth,

[ANNOUNCE] mkfontscale 1.2.0
mkfontscale creates the fonts.scale and fonts.dir index files used by the legacy X11 font system. Starting with this release, 1.2.0, it now includes the mkfontdir script previously distributed separately for compatibility with older X11 versions. (The entries below starting with 'mkfontdir: ' represent the git commits grafted from the mkfontdir repo and were all included in the mkfontdir

Truetype fonts
I am trying to install on a CentOS5 box http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/files/msttcorefonts-2.0-1.noarch.rpm then did an xfs restart, even an alt-ctrl-backspace. The fonts are located in /usr/share/fonts/msttcorefonts/ with the owner root & 644. I can't see them when I go to preferences > fonts. I have another computer with CentOS5, the fonts are installed and I can use them w/o

printing with wine thru ghostscript
The printing howto is a little vague in this area. How do I go about printing through ghostscript from windows? I know how to teach ghostscript to print the ttfs (generate the appropriate afms, add them to the fontmap). Where do I place the afms for wine to use? If I provide afms for each truetype font for wine, and then use a postscript printer ppd file, and set lpt1 to be |lpr, will this
