Low frequency feedback?

I'll have to do some experimentation. Owtch, my ears. :( I find that 16 kHz beep most irritating, it hurts even at low volumes. ;P Anyways, the humming you hear is actually multiple tones,

That age old Midi issue again
I can run most midi apps in wine through timidity with no problem but there are quite a few apps which don't allow you to assign the midi output to timidity such as Media Player Classic or WM player 6. They try to use the windows default which is of course MS synth or Emu10k1. There must be a way of mapping the midi output in wine from such apps to timidity but I just can't get it to

WINE ALSA MIDI
Hello, I am having trouble with wine and midi, and also the new winecfg vs config file setup. I have looked through old emails faqs etc and on frank's corner but nothing seems to be able to get the midi output out of wine and onwards towards my soundcard. The program I am having trouble with is called Power tab. I am running 'timidity -iA' with a GM soundfont and confirm that

Codeweavers
Today October 28, they are giving their software for free. Yes. Interest is go great they had to take their main site offline! Downloads can be done from the subsitute web page. So ... is their's really better than Wine on Debian Sid or Experimental? I have no need for MS-office. OO is more than good enought. However ... the question remains :-) They also offer a games package.

ALSA and MIDI
Can anyone help me get MIDI working with Wine please? I'm on wine-20050628, which I installed with the ./tools/wineinstall script. It's a pure wine installation. (I have a Windows ME partition, but I'm not using it.) I'm using ALSA with Linux 2.6.x. I installed Band in a Box - according to the application DB this works under wine, and indeed, it does load and display the main

Running Cubase with wine - HOW?
I am completely new to Linux and Wine. I've tried to make Wine work since some 1999, but never had patience with it. Tried reading guides, manuals and so on, but things did not work. All Linux versions I've tried have never run any windows-based programs after I installed Wine (and used to install a propper version of wine - that corresponds to Linux version) - what I did is what is said

No MIDI devices in wine
I'd want to run the windows editor for my guitar preamp (VOX Tonelab SE) which is connected to the MIDI in and out sockets of my soundcard. The program installs and starts without any problems under wine but it can't find any MIDI ports. MIDI works fine otherwise in Linux - I can read from and write to the sockets with arecordmidi and aplaymidi, but there are no MIDI devices visible

using vorbiscomments with metaflac not utf8-encoded
Using metaflac (1.0.3) like this: metaflac file.flac --set-vc-field=title=test??????e? The vorbiscomment will not be UTF8-encoded, instead they will be stored directly as ANSI. When trying to add some more comment, it gave the following error: ERROR: writing FLAC file file.flac, error = FLAC__METADATA_CHAIN_STATUS_OK Does that mean that weren't enough room for the comments? But

Re: No MIDI devices in wine
Try opening the sound tab in winecfg. It'll create a ALSA-based default configuration for you, which might automatically find the right MIDI channels. If it doesn't, try using a soft synth solution like timidity or qsynth. I think these automatically pick up on MIDI-supporting sound cards, too, plus extra MIDI channels that will definitely be detected by Wine will be exposed.

Direct X setup question
Hi, I have 4 machines here. Two are Gentoo, one of which is my laptop which has had lots of wine stuff installed. I have a second new Gentoo box, as well as two Fedora 2 boxes. These last 3 boxes have never had Wine on them. all 4 boxes are currently using Wine-20041019 compiled from the same tarball so they should be very identical. The problem is that my laptop, which has had almost every

Direct DVD-RW access possible?
Hi, I found that my DVD-RW supports LabelFlash/DiskT@2 and after killing the SCSI command filter in the kernel I was able to successfully burn labels on some DVD-Rs with Nero 7 Premium as well as Yamaha's LabelFlash Index Maker from VMWare. Is it possible to access the DVD-RW directly from Wine so I don't have to use VMWare for this task? BTW, LabelFlash Index Maker happily runs with

TmMidity
In trying to get NoteWorthy Composer working on my box (Mandrake 10.0, Gnome 2.4) I found a webboard for NWC under Linux (on wine). Following advice, I downloaded and compiled TiMidity. Unfortunately, when I try to follow the instructions given on the board, I get the following result [andrew@localhost rosegarden-4-1.0]$ su Password: [root@localhost rosegarden-4-1.0]# modprobe
