I want to be able to minimise WoW
OS: Arch Linux (64-bit) (fully updated) GFX Card: Geforce 8800GT (driver version irrelevant - had problem for a year) WM: Openbox Problem: Whenever I minimise WoW, the fps drops to sub-10. I can solve this by minimising and maximising the window again, but if I wait too long after minimising, it doesn't always work. Also, if I minimise it by accident too many times, it also doesn't work.

crystal reports under wine
Has anyone had any success with Crystal Reports under Wine? The problem I am currently having is with the print engine itself and is probably nothing to do with printing; Page fault on trying to access 0x00000000 in CRPE32.DLL.Prompt3DViewAngle (which I presume is bought in by Crystal from 3dgraphics) The dll is either version 8.0.0.371 or 8.0.0.392 -- Bill Medland

DLL at fixed location and memory sharing between executables
Is there a way to get the following to work under WINE? (i.e. to get two executables to share global memory as they do under windows) We have a DLL that is at a specified memory location. At the top of the code a variable is declared as follows: #pragma data_seg( "global_mem" ) #pragma bss_seg( "global_mem" ) unsigned uAttachmentCount = 0; Now.. The main program links

QUERY: function optimize
I have had problems with the function optimize/optimise for maximising/minimising a function of one variable. It seems to get easily fooled by local optima. Obviously this can happen to any numerical optimiser but some of the examples I have a pretty disappointing. Any comments of suggestions of a better R-function? --------------------------------------------------- Chris Lloyd Associate

processes don't die
I can't even think how to search winehq for this one. I have been running Wine successfully one one machine for ages. without problems. I am setting up a fresh machine. On that machine when I run the same application it leaves a whole load of copies of wine processes running when the application shuts down. I can't see any obvious differences in the config. Does anyone have any

whats the status on winhlp32?
I am just starting to look into the help side of our application and wanted to check on the status, especially with regard to the following: 1. We have to use the Microsoft winhlp32.exe; there isn't a Wine version? 2. It requires the native comdlg32.dll and/or comclt32.dll to get the Index button to do anything 3. Even then, that will only bring up the index itself, not the contents nor the

Non-constant variance and non-Gaussian errors
Hi Paul, Take a look at gam() from package mgcv (gam = generalized additive models), maybe this will help you. GAMs can work with other distributions as well. Generalized additive models consist of a random component, an additive component, and a link function relating these two components. The response Y, the random component, is assumed to have a density in the exponential family. I am not sure

problem with DivX9 and winetricks
HI Trying to install Divx9 using winetricks. Using Ubuntu 8.10 and have cabextract installed, and my graphics card has it's driver installed (NVIDIA GEforce FX 5200). Installation seems to go ok but does not re-start machine and there appear to be error messages in the terminal window, despite the fact that it says DivX is isntalled. Testing results by trying to play Age of Empires II -

Debugging R/Fortran in Windows
Hi, I'm trying to debug an R interface to a Fortran subroutine from Windows. (Yes, I know I should try Unix/Linux as well, but a quick attempt suggested that the (MinGW g77) Fortran compiler I have installed on my Windows laptop works better on this Fortran code.) I'm trying to follow the instructions in the "Writing R Extensions" Manual: Start R under the debugger after

Trouble debugging with gdb, R on Windows
I'm trying to follow the example in the R for Windows FAQ on running gdb and am getting stuck because gdb tells me "Cannot access memory at address ...". Here's what my gdb session looks like (This one from a cygwin shell, but same results from plain Windows CMD shell): $ cd R-devel/src/gnuwin32 $ gdb ../../bin/Rgui.exe GNU gdb 5.2.1 Copyright 2002 Free Software Foundation,

nlme problems
I'm maximising a reasonably complex function using nlme (version 3.1-65, have also tried 3.1-66) and am having trouble with fixed parameter estimates slightly away from the maximum of the log likelihood. I have profiled the log likelihood and it is a parabola but with sum dips. Interestingly changing the parameterisation moves the dips around slightly. Unfortunately the PNLS step is

[RFC] I've made a huge mistake
LLVM-Dev, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I've spent the last several months in severe denial of the problem and I just can't keep denying it to myself anymore. I've made a huge mistake. We never should have removed autoconf support. I've come to this conclusion after a great deal of thoughtful reflection on the impact of our CMake build system over the last year.

Porting with winelib - undefined reference to `WinMain'
Hello! I'm trying to port zCPU emulator (http://www.wiremod.com/forum/cpu-tutorials-programs/2956-zcpu-emulator.html) to Linux with winelib. This app is mainly console, but can draw some stuff using SDL. The problem is: compiles fine but when linking I get Code: /usr/lib/wine/libwinecrt0.a(exe_main.o): In function `main': exe_main.c:(.text+0x9d): undefined reference to `WinMain'

[PATCH 1/2] daemon: Fix part-to-dev when the partition name includes p<N>.
From: Pino Toscano <ptoscano@redhat.com> If the device name ends with a number, Linux uses partition names of the form <device>p<N>. Handle this case by knocking off the 'p' character. --- daemon/devsparts.c | 3 +++ 1 file changed, 3 insertions(+) diff --git a/daemon/devsparts.c b/daemon/devsparts.c index 5862ae2..b764f63 100644 --- a/daemon/devsparts.c +++
