CDROM_GetLabel error message
I recently tried to run a game called "Wizards and Warriors" using
wine version 20011108 and received the following error message:
err:cdrom:CDROM_GetLabel we don't have a way of determining the
label of a mixed mode CD - Linux doesn't allow raw access !!
I'm not quite sure I understand this message.. raw access to what?
What type of label is it looking for? Is this

CD-ROM not recognized
Howdy Folks,
I'm trying to run Cryo's Arthur's Knights under wine. I've managed to
install using setup.exe, but when I go to play the game, I get an error
message telling me to insert CD #1, even though CD #1 is in the CD-ROM
tray and mounted.
Any clues as to why I would be getting this message, how to convince the
game that the CD is actually in the CD-ROM drive, or how to

Seeing a cd-rom drive under Wine on Corel Linux
Help!! I have tried just about every combination but cannot get
my cd-rom to be seen to a Windows app. The app requires its CD
to be present but gives message "There is no CD-ROM in the
CD-ROM drive. Please insert the CD-ROM and click Retry or
Cancel" when I try to start it. The CD is there and I installed
the app from it successfully. I have tried mounting the CD

Using PXE to Boot CD Images?
Is it possible to chain isolinux and memdisk over pxelinux?
If it's possible, I'd like to boot a CD Image over the network. I've
been using pxelinux to boot ltsp for years, and recently upgraded to
take advantage of memdisk for booting a DOS hd-image. Ideally I'd be
able to boot a CD-Image. Thoughts?

half-life cd doesnt recognize
When I run half-life under Codeweavers Wine, it says it cannot validate the
cd. I tried cracking it under windows 4 times with different cracks, and
they work under windows, but in wine it says my executable has been edited.
When I had just plain wine that came iwth mydistro (suse 7.2), it worked
fine. I have no idea what to do and what is causing this. Thanks!

[LLVMdev] r98459 break of ExceptionDemo
Ok, I've isolated the recent additions that cause the issue and supplied a patch which is NOT meant
to be applied, but instead solely exists for identification purposes for those who know what they are doing. :-)
The patch is offset from HEAD.
The patch is a hack which removes use of the MCSymbol::isDefined(...) method, as its use happens to break
in the exception JIT context; both in

Any way to boot a CD if no BIOS support & CD-ROM is not 100% standard?
I originally asked in a hardware/software forum, but, got basically no
results. It occured to me that if anyone would know, it would be you
people. What I'm wanting to do is set up a rescue disc for a really
old laptop. It needs to boot up a linux based CD, hopefully with
minimal to no working stuff on the harddrive (I plan to put a floppy
image to be written to a disk when needed to do the

[LLVMdev] Documentation of malloc/free
So I gather this means that malloc was removed from the IR because there are platforms that don't have non-stack allocation semantics?

SPA-941/942 Bulk provisioning
Has anyone got any information on bulk provisioning of Linksys SPA-941/94s?
There is an overview in the admin guide but it refers to a different
provisioning guide that I haven't found anywhere.

How to disable hal's polling of CD-ROM drive in CentOS 5.1?
Given that I hardly ever use the CD-ROM drive, it makes no sense to have
hal constantly polling it for new media.
How can I disable this polling in CentOS 5.1?
Thanks.

Unable to boot from USB CD-ROM on AMD Geode LX800
I'm trying to build a bootable CD for an Advantech PCM-4153 board (based on
an AMD Geode LX800) that will allow to boot from USB CD-ROM drive. I've
created an ISO that will load ISOLINUX (3.51) and appears to load the kernel
and initrd images, but reboots the system when it tries to run the kernel.
When I use either isolinux.bin and isolinux-debug.bin, the last messages I

CD-ROM virtualization
I''m new to Xen and I''m trying to scan the source codes. Anyone could please give me an overview of how the CD-ROM access is virtualized in Xen?
What are the source files involved in that? Any quick explanation would be a great help.

OFF TOPIC: Chainloading CD-ROM boot after ISOLINUX + MEMDISK.
Hi,
This is off topic for this list, but someone on this list may be able to point me in the right direction.
For a couple of years I have been using ISOLINUX + MEMDISK and Smart Boot Manager to chainload a CD-ROM boot after loading a floppy image into RAM with MEMDISK.
My problem now is that Smart Boot Manager does not support/detect SATA optical drives used in new hardware.

Help with running childrens cd-rom in Xubuntu
Hello, I'm a newb with wine and not terribly bright with linux. I am
trying to get some of the kids' games to work in Xubuntu. I got wine
installed, and it seems I got the hot wheels game installed, after
finding that I needed to run everything as sudo. Now when I run the
program in the windows window I see a low-res video of a cd-rom being
inserted into a disk drive, presumably
