What are the free games that I can play with Steam?
I have just managed to install Steam client application (Build: 16 Sep 2010 13:37:56; Steam API: v009; Steam package versions: 62 / 1374) with my shiny new Wine 1.3.2, which has been compiled with Alexander Morozov's patches for USB device support. The older Wine-1.1.23 that came with Fedora 11 x86_64 Linux has been uninstalled prior to installing Wine 1.3.2 from the Git source tree. May

Streaming games using Wine
Recently I have got some information about an online service called OnLive. http://www.onlive.com/#1 It is a service that enable people play games remotely, on the cloud. As far as I know, this is a tool that get a game, play it on a server and compress and send the screen output to the player. After seeing that, I though: Oh it is really cool such kind of service and they should be using a

new wine appdb-ish site, games.ibeentoubuntu.com
I just noticed http://games.ibeentoubuntu.com It kind of duplicates (in a small way) wine's appdb, but it has gameplay videos, which is kind of cool.

lme speedup question
I am hoping someone will be kind enough to have a look at the following piece of code and tell me if there is a way to run lme() so it is a lot faster. The inner loop, j in 1:15000, takes about 2 hrs on my 2.8GHz dual Xeon 4GB RAM machine. The timings I have done show the dominant execution time is in lme. options(contrasts=c("contr.sum", "contr.sum"))

Trying to get games running
Hi, there are 2 games I want to get up and running, they are Alpha Centauri and HOMM3. I would buy AC if it was available at a decent price. I have installed both from original CD, from Wine. My problems are: HOMM3: Comes up with a warning: Unable to initialize resources, possible disk problem. Can't remember if it is protected. This version was upgraded to version 1.4 by the installer.

still hanging after "scrubbing free RAM"
I''m still having problems with 2.0.6 hanging after printing its "scrubbing free RAM" message. comparing with normal behavior, it looks like it''s not transferring to dom0. For more data, see my "upgrade going bad" message. I figure this is something pretty obvious which is why I''m not seeing it. ---eric --

Bug#810070: Bug#810070: XEN Hypervisor crashes/reboots at Startup after "Scrubbing Free Ram"
> If possible it might be interesting to first try the 4.6 hypervisor in> Stretch, I suspect the xen-hypervisor-4.6-amd64 package will just install> on Jessie with no issues since it has no dependencies and you don't need> the userspace tools just to check if it boots.Hey there,I can confirm the issue with new Intel i7-6700 Quad-Core Skylake CPUs and I'm also

Process to get games working better?
For example, I checked Painkiller on AppDB and it works fine, I don't get any keyboard or mouse issues anymore (avoid Compiz), so I decided to try that game first. It loads all fine but in game a lot of objects are missing like monsters. The game is pretty unplayable if you can't see what you are shooting at. Invisible or unloaded objects in games is a common problem for me. So what

I can't get any games to work.
I have ubuntu 10.04 and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1300 and haven't found a single game I can play with wine. I have tried many like WoW and a bunch of those free mmorpgs that are around like runes of magic and battle of the immortals. It lets me download and update but when it comes to actually starting the game a pop up shows up saying The program game.exe has encountered a serious

Steam Client : get terminal output from games
Just a quickie question... Could someone remind me how I attach my console output to a game being run through the Steam client? Otherwise I think I am just seeing the output from the Steam client itself - right? I am trying to troubleshoot launching Bioshock 1 and I don't have a retail copy of the game to try out... Thanks 8) Bob

How To Get Games on Steam?
I'm about to try out Team Fortress 2 because my friends wanted me to join in with them, and I'm using Wine to run Steam. However, because I'm new to this Steam business and everything, I'm just curious -- how do I install a game using Steam as the AppDB says? Or, how do I move TF2 files to this "steamapps" folder, and if that is the preferred method, how can I get the

tytso's readdir speedup patch - adoptable?
Hello, recently Theodory Tso posted a patch for the ext2fs driver, which improves speed of find and similar programs. Background: the application access all entries in the directory in the order they are stored on the disk. The current ext2 (and apparently Ext3) run a lookup function for each readdir call, starting with the first node! Theodore stores a refference to the node which was accessed

Lin/Win desktop/games rig with PEG pass-through
Hi all, I''m planning a rig that has SuSE linux in Dom0 and Windows7 in a DomU with the PCIe video card passed through to the Win7-U and an AMD system''s onboard video for the Linux system. Couple xen-newbie questions: does my plan work in such that I intend to have the onboard video''s DVI and the video card (at present an NV GTX-460) on the same monitor and switch
