RE: wine-users Digest, Vol 17, Issue 39

Problems on recent versions of Wine - MS Office 2000 and Shockwave
I don't make that much use of Wine but do sometimes need real MS Word, and sometimes like to play some of the games on the shockwave.com site. However, there have been a number of upgrades recently to Wine and these have now stopped working with the following symptoms: Office: Running applications from an existing install says "This application must be installed to run. Nice review of Wine on frankw.livejournal.com
Some fellow in South Africa is blogging his move to Linux: http://frankvw.livejournal.com/195867.html An excerpt: "There is a huge database of applications available that lists every application that has been tested with Wine, and it tells you how well (or badly) it runs. I'm amazed how many Windows applications will work with Wine flawlessly. I remembered Wine from its early days when it

I saw also a lot of post relating 404 errors, but they were user-side errors. So I checked it myself, and I saw that putting http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt on the browser bar makes it give a

MS Office 2000, and Shockwave, under wine 0.9.1
There was a time when I managed to get Office 2000 (or those parts of it I wanted) and Shockwave both installed in wine, using winetools. However, under later versions, that is not suitable. I am wondering if anyone has yet succeeded. My specific problems: Office installer: when I get to the part where I choose the required components, the icon to indicate the installation type selected for

Welcome everybody - I am not sure weather I should ask this here but... As in the topic - is wine logo and other wine arts from winehq.com GPL licensed? And if they are - does it mean that I can 'cut' certain piece of a logo and use it on my site? Thank you in advance. P.S Sorry for my English - it's not my native language. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

There was an HL demo, downloaded from Sierra, that was a completely new episode - more like a taste of things to come. I enjoyed playing it, even after I had finished the full game, but was a little disappointed with the ending of the demo. Can't complain for free, though. I suggest you go and buy the 'battle pack' or whatever it's called - HL, OpFor, TFC, and a few other
