kbdmap & ASCII > 128
Hi, I've just played around with kbdmap in pxelinux. I always wondered why there was no translation for "AltGr"-Keys (the right 'Alt'-Key) (AltGr-Q generates "@" on a german keyboard e.g.), and I found in conio.inc (syslinux 1.76): getchar: [..] .kbd: xor ax,ax ; Get keyboard input int 16h and al,al jz .func_key mov bx,KbdMap ; Convert character sets

Printing with CUPS and missing deadkeys
The following is taken from the Wine Documentation: If you are using CUPS, you do not need to configure .ini or registry entries, everything is autodetected. It doesn't work, though. Anyone knows another way to get CUPS to work? In Linux it works perfectly. The applications prompt that they can't find a printer driver. How can you make windows know there is a printer driver? Centos 5.4 on Acer Aspire One
I currently have my Acer Aspire One netbook set up with Fedora 11. I would like to change it over to Centos 5.4 if I can. I downloaded the Centos 5.4 i386 livecd image and made a bootable USB flash drive out of it. Unfortunately, when I boot off of that flash drive, Grub (I guess) immediately turns the screen entirely white. If I hit a key I can faintly see the outline of "Press tab to

System beeps in kernel 2.6.18-194
So, just today I noticed a problem with kernel 2.6.18-194 (CentOS 5.5) on several Intel DP965LT systems; the system beeps (such as terminal beeps) are no longer passed through to the external speakers. This is a problem because in our situation the boxes are distant from their monitor/keyboard, the system speaker on this motherboard is extremely weak, and there are no system speaker header pins

wine and window managers
Hi! Does wine run with any window manager? Wine (wine-20001202) delivered with SuSE Linux 7.1 does only run when KDE2 is my window manager. Is this normal? -- Thomas

pxelinux 3.09 LOCALBOOT does not work (v3.07 does)
Hi, when trying to boot from local disk with PXELINUX v 3.09, the systems just beeps and hangs. The last message appearing on the screen is "Booting from local disk..." Running PXELINUX v 3.07 works for me (but I'd like to use v.3.09 because of the increased max command line size. The BIOS boot priority configuration is PXE/Disk/Disabled. Grub is installed in the MBR of the

Unable to install important application
Hi folks! My bank sent me a CD with the new version of it's Homebanking software. This new version uses internet for communication, the old one dialed with the modem direct to the banks computer. Because the old access will be revoked end of this year, it is very very important to switch to the new version. So I put the cd into the drive, mounted /cdrom an started "wine

spelling with <g>?
Hello, What should the following input produce? Dutch has shifted Germanic g to the velar fricatives [?] and [x], but retained the spelling with <g> and thus at least a visual similarity to German; English and Frisian have shifted g to [j] before palatal vowels The Dingus says: <p>Dutch has shifted Germanic g to the velar fricatives [?] and [x], but retained the spelling

Hosed by 4.2
Hi, I have been using Centos since 3.0. I have been upgrading regularly without any major problem. 4.1 to 4.2 has been a total disaster. I ran yum update, it went through and a couple of hours later I rebooted and X froze with the screen just being just fuzz [regular rectangles, orange, green...] and the keyboard froze. Could not do a alt-ctrl-backspace, nor a Alt-F1-6 nor Alt-Ctrl-Del. I

virsh console and other language keymaps
Hi, I've got a small vm server running kvm + libvirt, and I made a simple shell script that allows users to ssh in and control their vms (power off, etc). However, one of my users uses the french canadian keyboard layout on her home computer, and upon being told "escape character is ^]" expected to need to press ctrl+right-alt_] (] being in the same location it is on a US keyboard).

Analogue phone w/ TDM400
Hi, I'm running * 1.2.7.1 on Red Hay 9.0 w/ a TDM 400 2 x FXS, 1 x FXO. I'm using a VTech cordless that makes three short beeps when someone another extension is picked up, presumably this lets you know if someone is trying to listen in.. Everything works, except the VTech now makes the three beeps everytime you try to use it, even if another extension is in use. It seems as though the

Beeps clicks and volume problems
I still have problems with beeps and clicks on all my calls. I have polycom sip phones. I also can hear the beeps and clicks on some of my messages, which would lead me to believe that it is more of a decoding problem on the zaptel card. Any ideas? Thanks Sean Garland

follow-up on previous [HELP] messages
Here's some follow-up on some messages I posted some time ago asking for help. Wine works again since 20010731, better than ever, if maybe a little slower. [HELP] Fn keys: This problem is still present. Here's a reminder: I use Wine to run Stew, an Atari ST emulator, a Winston0.5 derivate. While using the emulator, I can't use the Fn keys. For example, if the program's asking to

xenconsole: How to get out?
Hi, XEN has a console that works in text mode ("xm console", e.g. via SSH). However with a German keyboard I''m having trouble to get out of the console again. Usually I login to Dom0 from another terminal, and then kill the xenconsole process. However I''d wish there was an easier way to get out. Maybe add a configurable escape key like for SSH? Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings broken under xen 3.0.3-142.el5_9.1 / 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5xen?
I am not sure what I did, but for some reason Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings are broken on 64-bit xen desktop machine (but not on my laptop (32-bit, no xen)). Both machines are (mostly) up-to-date and running CentOS 5.9. I rarely hop to different Virtual Consoles (eg Ctrl-Alt-F1 ... Ctrl-Alt-F7), but today I wanted to go to the main console to watch some kernel verbage (I was checking something with
