Direct Connect in Wine
Anyone got neo-modus.com's Direct Connect file-sharing software to work in wine ? I get just a popup with a red cross in and the text "Invalid Picture" and an OK button, pushing it exits the program. This is what wine says: fixme:win32:SetCriticalSectionSpinCount critsection=0x77a36230: spincount=1000 not supported fixme:win32:SetCriticalSectionSpinCount critsection=0x77a36258:

hi, I am trying to install a VB accounting app, that uses Oracle DB. The app is running till it reaches DB connection. I installed unixodbc and oracle drivers atfndapl.fnal.gov/~dbox/oracle/odbc and builtin odbc32.dll. At this point I get an errror, err:module:import_dll No implementation for ODBC32.dll.176 imported from C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\msdasql.dll, setting to

ups not recognized by usbhid-ups
I've posted this before being subscribed but was thwarted by moderation. I have a new UPS, actual manufacturer unknown. It comes with USB and serial connections, and a CD with windows software and some old unix software for serial support only. I'm using pretty much bleeding edge linux, and I want to avoid rs-232 if possible. Am I hopelessly naive? This is what lsusb says: Bus 006

Can't connect to samba from foreign network --- 'Gethostbyaddr failed' error in log.smb
I have a samba server at ip address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd I can connect to it from clients on subnets aaa.bbb.eee. and aaa.bbb.fff. I can't connect to it from clients on ggg.hhh. smb.conf has hosts deny = all hosts allow = localhost, aaa.bbb., ggg.hhh. The client can successfully 'ping mysambaserver' (resolves to aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd). Doing 'net view \\mysambaserver' fails with

[LLVMdev] [PATCH][Compiler-rt] Windows implementation of mmap functionality in clear_cache_test and enable_execute_stack_test
Hi, Attached is a patch for compiler-rt to allow it to compile with MinGW-w64 on Windows. Results aren't that bad. x86 GCC and Clang do everything right, all tests pass. x86_64 GCC fails a lot of tests. This is 99% sure a codegen issue. 38 - fixunssfti_test (Failed) 74 - fixunsdfti_test (Failed) x86_64 Clang fails these tests: 2 - udivmodti4_test (SEGFAULT) 6 - fixdfti_test (Failed) 8 -

Samba on Solaris 2.5.1?
Does anyone have Samba working on Solaris 2.5.1? I posted more or less the same question a few months ago, and didn't hear anything back, but the issue has reared its head again on my end. I have Samba 2.0.0 running successfully on Solaris 2.6, but have failed in repeated attempts to get Samba running on Solaris 2.5.1. Basic symptom: I can get the daemon running, but can't connect to

What to do in Windows 95 after configuring Samba
Hello, I'm new to Samba so sorry for this trivial question. I've configured my smb.conf with all the shares and enabled WINS support. I wanted to know what do I have to configure in my windows 95 machine. My LAN setup is - one Linux Red Hat 6.0 machine Pentium 166 and a windows 95 machine a 486. I've made my Linux m/c the proxy server using Squid. Also whenever I boot my Win m/c it

__clear_cache / clear_cache.c
projects/compiler-rt/lib/builtins/clear_cache.c I suggest two small changes here. 1. Mark it however required to avoid inlining, i.e. for the x86/amd64 case. Control transfer is required. I realize it is likely anyway, you aren't likely to "fall from" the caller into the code. 2. #elif defined(_WIN32) && (defined(__arm__) || defined(__aarch64__)) be changed to just: #elif

Does mksmbpasswd.sh have any real purpose?
I see that mksmbpasswd.sh (plus a little editing) would be a good way to set up users with "NO PASSWORD" in bulk. But suppose I don't want the risk of the "NO PASSWORD" approach. Now somebody with root access must run smbpasswd for each user they want to activate. But can't I just do this anyway (with the -a 'add user' option), without ever having run

One of two samba servers not visible (remote announce problem?)
I have (more than) three subnets: A: all unix (I think) B: mixed unix and PC's C: all PC's (I think) I have a samba server on both A and B. They have essentially identical configurations. Both are running the nmbd daemon, and are configured as workgroup = XXSAMBA. I have a PC on C. Both net view /domain:XXSAMBA and network neighborhood show only the server on B. I assumed that

Okay, am trying to get ICQ2000b installed under Wine for my GF ... I use LICQ myself, she doesn't like it as much as her Windows version, says it offers more then licq ... Why a copy of smbd for each smbmount mountpoint?
When an OS/2 or Win9x client logs into a (Linux) Samba v2.0.6 server the running smbd spawns a copy of itself. That second instance of smbd then handles all the shares for that client machine. In contrast, a Linux client which does multiple smbmounts (also Samba v2.0.6) will cause the server to spawn a copy of smbd for *each* smbmount mountpoint. This has the potential for using up a lot more
