Wine Config
I've just compiled Wine using the transgaming patch and now need to setup
the config files and just wondering if there are any nice and easy programs
to set this up for me! I've tryed 'WineSetupTK' but I always run my machine
as root and this does not allow you to edit the root config files!
So my question is Are there any other wine config setup programs?
Thanks

smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba
servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse"
is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount
command with a -k option, I can mount the share:
turgon at workhorse:~$ klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1000
Default principal: turgon at DACRIB.LOCAL

Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
I've been at this for days, and making no headway. It's very
discouraging. I have a Win2003 domain, that has the Services for Unix
extensions installed. I am trying to have multiple Samba servers as
domain members. (in my case, one desktop sharing files, and one laptop,
accessing the shares). And at the moment, it doesn't (fully) work.
Each Samba server can see shares from the other.

[LLVMdev] LLVM and the windows xp/vista kernel
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has had success at running the LLVM within the windows xp kernel? The XP kernel really does not like C++ or exceptions and there is a project which attempts at getting C++ in there. In your humble opinion, do you think it can be done?
My project is a reconfigurable device driver system which dynamically optimizes for the available hardware. two thirds is within

installer and os-prober not finding Windows XP installation
I installed CentOS 7 on a Shuttle X27D box (dual-core Atom 330), and
so far it seems to work fine, but it didn't set up a Grub2 entry for
the existing Windows XP installation in the first partition (MBR).
Running os-prober generates no output.
fdisk shows that the NTFS partition is still present as /dev/sda1, and
still has the bootable flag set.
I added a menuentry for Windows to the end of

Can't write to a Samba shared directory from windows XP
Hi,
I have setup a linux shared directory using Samba. From windows XP, I can
see the shared directory, browse it, read files from it; however, I can't
write to it. I have changed the ownership of the shared directory in linux
to "nobody", changed the group to "nobody", and chmod it 777.
I have looked at threads for similar problems, but I can't get my problem

Centos 4.3/ 64-bit: Java/ Tomcat Optimization
Hi,
I have been steadily migrating machines, about 50-70 of them to Centos
4.3, mostly using Opteron Dual Core/ Tyan boxes of Supermicro origin.
They perform apache, mysql, tomcat and qmail work, depending where they exist
The main reason from the programmer side (i'm a sysadmin/ engineer) is the
larger "heap size" to satisfy some of the needs. Since Java/Tomcat
applications can

serios problem with zaptel or asterisk
Hello,
I have installed 2 *'s and i have connected both to E1, ISDN.
Both are using EuroISDN.
On both i use alaw. The distance in ping time for them is 3 ms.
I use IAX and as a codec i use alaw on that connection.
Now the problems are:
1. I get some crunches on the line, alot of them.
2. I get some hangup's, very often, and i have no idee from where that is
comming. This is my log for a

Unable to view samba shares on Windows XP Home Client
I am not able to view shares on the Samba server, although I can 'see'
the server with the 'net view' command. Entering 'net view sambaserver'
results in network path not found. Interestingly, when I boot the same
server into Windows XP (it's dual boot), I can view the server and it's
shares from the Windows XP home client that cannot view the shares on

Windows XP to run from Linux boot
Hello everyone of Wine. I have been an Ubuntu user for the past month or so now and I have very little experience with Wine. I originally started using the OS/app loader on a Sony Vaio NR110 laptop, but now I am the owner of an MSI Wind.
I have my Wind dual booted (XP, Ubuntu) with the larger partition to ext3 for ubuntu's boot. Usuing about 1.3gb for swap too. I would like to start using

Best way to virtualize Windows XP on Centos
I may have a need to run some version of Windows (XP?) on my desktop.
As this will likely be a short-term thing, and since I have never used Windows, I would like to do this in the most painless way possible. A method that requires me to make the least changes to my Centos computer would be nice, since I'll probably want to back it out again later.
I have never used any of the current

HVM guest high CPU usage
I have couple of HVM guests on xen 3.2. When guests boot, qemu-dm uses alot
of cpu for approx 20 minutes post boot then load drops to average 0.50. I
did some debugging and see this is going on, I suspect display output is
using the CPU. Disabling VNC and SDL didn''t help with the CPU usage. any
ideas how to reduce the cpu or stop it all together?
My setup is as following:

I have a dual boot using two separate hard disks. Win XP is installed on sda and Ubuntu 10.04 on sdb. I have installed WINE on sdb.
Can I use WINE to install a device driver for Win XP from sdb without starting Win XP?
When I try to start WinXP it gives a message about the lack of a suitable device driver for my NVIDIA video card then stops booting. I want to install a new driver

Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
I am *still* unable to mount shares from a Ubuntu 10.04 server, using a
Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I totally re-formatted both my desktop and my
laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 (so that they would be using the same version
of Samba). I am using the exact same smb.conf for the 2 machines (less
the share definitions, which exist only on the desktop, known as
"workhorse"). wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g,
