fixme:ddraw:User_DirectDraw_GetCaps unsupported structure versions
Hi: I can't get Red Alert (The old version, not Red Alert II) to work with wine. This is suprising since the Apps database on winehq.com has three entries that say Red Alert works. For me the screen goes black and stays that way. I get out of it by killing X witn Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. This the the error output from wine: Invoking /opt/wine/bin/wine.bin /WIN95/westwood/redalert/ra95.exe ...

Troubles with XFree86-4.10 and sound
Hi, I recently posted a success story (Steel Panthers). Well, now it's not working :( I updated the WINE version to 20010630 (from 20010510) and the XFree86 version 4.10 (from 4.03). Well, now it says that I have no sound (one application says that maybe will not work because there's no soundcard). And the game does not woork anymore (it uses DirectSraw, AFAIK, to paint a 800x600

cannot find libntdll.so
Sorry to bug everyone. I can't find the messages about this one any more. I have had wine running in the past but currently it gives me the error about being unable to find libntdll.so (wine: error in loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory). I had codeweavers 20010305 installed and our application sort of running under it. I wanted

Codeweavers install problem.
Hi... trying to install Codeweavers-wine-20010305, which is the latest stable build I understand. It configures and then informs me that it'll compile but that building without the Xpm development files won't work. Sure enough... they were right...<grin> So I go get the latest Xpm stuff and they turn out to be libxpm4-3.4 and libxpm4-devel-3.4. Got them in .src.rpm and

Newbie woes with par:mar
I have a simple barchart with horizontal bars and horizontal tick labels, produced with barplot(x, horiz = T, names.arg = c, las = 1) The labels are longish strings, truncated on the plot. I wish to leave more space for the left margin, and experiment with mar parameter, barplot(x, horiz = T, names.arg = c, las = 1, mar = c(5, 15, 4, 2)) trying various values for the second vector element, but

Thanks Wine tea
I'm truly impressed by wine, especially Codeweavers'. Not only was it easy to install, but it works! I can now use Britannica, the OED and the archives of Time magazine on Windows CDs. I'm working on getting Pegasus to find my data folders (any tips?) and Agent works fine. It did everything I wanted it to do except run CorelDraw4 (it can't decipher its fonts) and any astrology

Renaming of Program Files folder
Has anybody else experienced a problem with Wine renaming the Windows Program Files folder to !$!$!$!$.pfr and (seemingly) creating another empty copy of Program Files elsewhere. I have experienced this problem twice while running two different versions of Wine (the last one CodeWeavers 20010305-1). Naturally, Windows takes exception to this and won't run. The information I have is :-

Resolving font trouble, how?
I am using codeweavers-wine under MDK 9.0 with XFree86 4.2.1. I am trying to run the EphPod (iPod synchronization) program under wine. This gives me some font troubles that I cannot figure out to solve completely satisfactory. My standard xfs configuration contains among others, the following font catalogs /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont/Type1,

Install wine, dependency problem, newbie woes
Downloaded wine from codeweavers and tried to install with Kpackage. "Needs libXv.so.1" Tried locating lib* with Google, but Google comes up with packages with different names. Maybe the lib I need is part of a larger library. So, where to find what I need, and then what to do with it (eg. just copy to /lib)?? Thanks in advance for clues, dave
