Wine Setup
I am a complete newbie to Wine. I am aware of the wonderful things OTHER people can get it to do as far as running MS apps, but I have never had such sucess. The last attempt to run "winesetup" as root was met with the following: debian:/home/tilleyrw# whoami root debian:/home/tilleyrw# winesetup Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Client is not authorized

Wine Debugging Log
While attempting some of the posted possible answers to my wine difficulties, the following debug log was produced. Does this help anyone? Wine should have a option in the debug window which would send the results of a faulty launch directly to the wine-developer list (ala KDE) so that problems can be more easily solved. tilleyrw@debian:~$ wine '/mnt/C/Program\ Files/Agent/agent.exe'

Reverting to etx2???
I am in the odd situation of needing to revert my root partition back to ext2 so that it may be resized. I prefer to use Partition Magic at the moment and it can only work with partitions of ext2, not ext3. I believe that the documentation for ext3 exists at the main web site, http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/. That is my next destination but as the answer may not exist there, I

display pop up message on X
Is there a method to display pop up messages on X display? I found xmessage, however I was hoping for something a little more flexible. like being able to tell xmessage to display a file (typically one line in the file). then send it a signal to tell it to re-read the file and show the new data. Sure I can kill it and re-show it but that isnt very nice... Is there something available in centos

Can't find xmessage
I am getting that pesky "Wine launcher is unable to find xmessage". I asked Mandrake Expert and was told that this is included in XFree86 version 4 (which I am running). I have searched for this file and still can't find it. Any ideas what I can do about it? I am running mdk 8.1. Regards, Jim

Message display
Is there a command in CentOS4 or some small program to display a short message everywhere possible on a box much like # shutdown -k now "Display me where I'll be seen", but without the added (normal) stuff? xmessage would probably be usable if it had an -onalldesktops option. BTW, the purpose is to add a visual to the scripts I have in place to remind me to connect my external
