Problem with translator
Hi,
Just installed 0.9.4 (from 0.8 series) and ran the spec translator. It
messed up specs that had the should include() where the argument to
include is a string (using no parens for the arg)
IOW, given:
context "OldSchool" do
class OldSchool
attr_accessor collection
def initialize
@collection = []
end
def add_new(item)

"should.be_in [values]" and "each_should_satisfy"
Hi!
I just started using RSpec and have some question that I couldn''t find
answers to.
If I have a result that can have two valid values, is there a better way
of writing
the following assertion?
[value1,value2].should_include actual
Is there a more elegant way of performing should_satisfy on a
collection, for
example I currently use something like collection.each {|x|

Using Predicates to look at an array..
Hi all,
I have an array of shipping_type''s being returned, and I want to see
what is in there. In the past I have done:
shipping_type.include?(Cart::SHIPPING_TYPE_REGULAR).should be_true
This works, but looks really ugly.. It just doesn''t roll of the
tongue very well. I then looked up the use of Predicates, which I
had been using, but hadn''t realized:

changes in 0.8 and greater - should_
Has the should_... syntax changed? I''m getting errors when running
the following:
should_render(:index)
should_be_valid
should_not_be_valid
should_respond_to
should_be
should_render
I thought the syntax changed to something like the following:
obj.should render(:index)
but this doesn''t seem to work.

View Specs Fail with "protected method render"
I''ve got rspec and zentest installed as well as the rspec rails plugin, and
my model/controller specs all pass and work well. I can''t seem to get views
to work though - 100% of the specs fail with:
NoMethodError in ''/users/show.rhtml should render attributes in <p>''

String.should_hav_tag
I''ve just upgraded to rspec 0.6.4 and several specs were broken. All
for the same reason. String.should_have_tag doesn''t seem to be
supported any longer.
It used to be possible to write assertions like:
response.body.should_have_tag :tag => "form"
or
"<html><body/></html>".should_have_tag :tag => "body"
But these fail

Specs for Ajax partials with unicode characters
Hi
Not sure if this is more Rails or RSpec related...
I''ve got an app with an RJS view that updates a div in a page with
the contents of a partial. The partial contains a non-ascii
character namely a pound sign.
I set up a simple test app with this RJS view:
page.replace_html("test_div", :partial => "test_action")
and this _test_action.rhtml:

Links in view specs

And this spec:

Specifying views
I''m trying to spec my views with 0.7.1 on edge rails per the

Odd error handling in ActionView#compile_template causes WSOD
If a view file cannot be compiled (eg it has a block with a missing
''end'' statement), I''m experiencing WSODs - the browser reports a lost
network connection, rather than the helpful compilation error that we
used to have.
When the compilation fails, ActionView#compile_template raises this
error :
TemplateError.new(find_base_path_for(file_name || template), file_name

RSpec
Hi RSpec Mailing list,
I''m new to RSpec and I am trying to get it running with the caboo.se sample
rails app.
I installed the current version of rspec with rspec_on_rails
I tried to run rake spec but received:

UI testing framework? (w/o selenium)
Hey all,
I am currently working on coming up w/ an easy to use, developer-centric web
testing framework to test a J2EE app with. (I have 3 rails apps in
production, love rspec, and am currently at a java shop).
I''ve looked at selenium, and it just doesn''t seem like it is ready for prime
time, and the target audience is developers. So, having said that, does

Advice needed on tracking down unusual error
Does anyone have advice on how to go about locating the cause of this

MasterView rails-optimize (x)html friendly template engine - Release 0.2.4
MasterView is a rails-optimized (x)html friendly template engine plugin that
provides another option to the existing rails view templates (rhtml and
rxml). The main idea is to provide a template engine that would provide all
the power of layouts, partials, and rails helpers but still be
editable/styleable in a WYSIWYG editor. It was also a major goal that the
syntax of these attribute directives
