Wine release 20010216
This is release 20010216 of Wine, a free implementation of Windows on Unix. This is still a developers only release. There are many bugs and unimplemented features. Most applications still do not work correctly. Patches should be submitted to "wine-patches@winehq.com". Please don't forget to include a ChangeLog entry. Troubles with Windows Me Registry in latest CVS
I'm having a problem that I'm not sure the cause of. I've never had a problem with wineinstall until recently. I have full read/write access to my Windows partition and wineinstall can see it. However it fails to find the Windows registry for some reason. I'm running Windows Me, on that partition. For Linux I'm running Redhat 7, and latest CVS. Here's the messages I get.

modestly priced laptop for C7
I'm looking to replace my (old, creaky) netbook (Acer Aspire One D255e, a screaming dual core 1.6 GHz Atom, and a whole 2 gigs of RAM) with something faster but not too large. Sometimes (usually) the netbook is painfully slow. Something like a hi-res 14 (or 15) inch screen (full HD), minimum of 4 gigs RAM, HD of a half terabyte or bigger. I'd like to not have to go over 600-700 dollars,

Initial window position with WINE
Some one else (not me -- I have RedHat 7 and can't seem to get a compiler to work) built the current Corel WPO CVS WINE and it seems to work OK except that when I close an application with a full screen it remembers that. But, when I reopen it it is a little to my left and too high to see the decorations on the window frame. Can this be changed with a configuration file somewhere or

OK, I'm doing something stupid.
Freshly installed Mandrake 8.1, no Windows anything except some fonts. Both the included 20010731 and the cooker 20010824 give me the same result when I try to run any Windows setup from CD: I get a burst of FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock pairs followed by nine fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_BITMAP_SelectObject stub at which point winereal sucks 100% of available processor slices

Compiling winelib on SPARC
Does the latest winelib compile and work on the Sparc? Are there any special patches/instructions for this? Are there any mirrors that have the precompiled binary winelib for Sparc? Thanks in advance.

Should dovecot not be using different logging facility and severity levels?
Should dovecot not be using different severity levels like auth.warn? On my system everything goes to loglevel info: lev_info:Aug 9 16:18:24 mail03 dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (auth failed, 1 attempts in 2 secs): user=<xxxxx>, method=PLAIN, rip=x.x.x.x, lip=x.x.x.x, TLS, session=<UBXJ2K+PYh68zmjw> lev_info:Aug 9 16:18:29 mail03 dovecot: auth-worker(28656):

ruby rails performance
Hi- We just finished our app and I tested for performance with httperf. Our setup is browser -> apache2.2-> mod_poxy balancer-> mongrel cluster -> 3 mongrel servers. I have noticed that the total request per second is is about 7.5. When I increase the no of mongrel to 5, it inches up to 8 req/s. My question is how bad or good this number is? We are on a old dell 2400 machine

What to read about interactions
Hi, TL;DR: I am having a hard time synthesizing the information I need out of the website/wiki documentation, and google isn't turning up what I need, so I'm looking for advice on what I should read next to understand the way aliases, dovecot's lmtp, and pigeonhole work together. Details below. I've been using dovecot happily for some years, but in a recent migration of my mail

How to disable SSL and TLSv1.1?
I'm running Dovecot 2.2.5 and want to make it refuse SSLv2, SSLv3 and TLSv1.0. Clients will opportunistically use TLS 1.1 and 1.2, but now I want require they do so. Is it enough to set ssl_cipher_list = HIGH:!SSLv2:!SSLv3:!TLSv1.0:!aNULL:!MD5 or are there additional settings I need to specify?

wordperfect
I have managed to mostly install wpwin9 into fake windows. I freeze near the end at the "self registering" screen (cdrhlp90.dll), but the install log seems to find everything there. But wine will not run WP, says cannot find wpwin9.exe. I can find it in fake_windows using Nautilus; otherwise cannot get there by using cd since it seems to be unable to cd into "WorPerfect

Corel WordPerfect Suite (6.1) for Windows 3.1
I can't quite get this to work. Installation complains that: COMPOBJ.201 COMPOBJ.207 are not implemented, but almost finished OK so it may be installed OK. Except that it can't appear to find the DLLs that come with it. Runnint the installation over, it complains that it can't read the DLLs if they are installed. Then when I try to execute WP, I get an error that it can't

WordPerfect--any version working?
Has anyone gotten any version of WordPerfect working in Wine? Please let me know, and if you have a version that works, could you let me have a copy? (I have WP X3, X4, and X5, and Wine 1.4.1, which I know is not the latest, but is the latest in the PCLOS repo.) When I tried recently, none would install. HELP! LibreOffice just doesn't cut it, and I could send you a file to prove it.
