CentOS6 CR repo - depsolving problem
All,
Has anyone else had a problem with the CR repo on a 6.4 or 6.5 system?
I have a test VM that has the CentOS6 CR repo enabled and it recently (well
a week or so) started having dependency problems. It's choking on
dependencies for ca-cerfificates. Obviously there aren't any CR packages
yet for 6.5 so a zero package count and empty directory on the mirror [0]
are legitimate. But

Does anyone know what causes this error?
I have setup a local CentOS repository, with mrepo, and can succesfully use

Local yum mirror and repomd.xml
Hey,
So, I'm having a minor issue. Today, I configured one of our CentOS systems
to use our local mirror (mirror.clarkson.edu) for its repositories. After
doing this, I ran a yum update and received the following warning in the
output along with the updates available:
Not using downloaded repomd.xml because it is older than what we have:

yum can't connect to mirrors
Hello,
I added rpmforge yum repo to my yum config and then the box couldn't
connect to fetch updates. I added enabled=0 to rpmforge.repo as well as
add-ons, contrib, and centosplus, but i'm still getting mirror errors. I
believe i've got some file corruption somewhere, but i don't see where. I
can't even fetch packages in updates now, keep getting connection refused

local repo
Hi all,
When I am installing I use kickstart and have a line like:
repo --name=Updates
--baseurl=http://192.168.1.14/centos/5.6/updates/x86_64/
and that works great for installing the OS.
After that the machine reboots and I have it automatically go into
additional installations running scripts.
These installations do "yum install XXX".
However, its no longer using my above repo

yum quit working in CentOS 5.4 x86_64
Have been running 5.4 x86_64 for a couple of months now. Every once in
a while, I would get a notice that updates were available.
It appears that about 3 weeks ago, yum stopped notifying me of updates.
Over that time, I've manually done a 'yum update' from a command line,
with an output that there are no updates.
I know this cannot be true, because I watch the 'centOS-announce

centosplus + priority plugin
I have a Centos 4 box that has been updated all the way to 4.6 without
using the centosplus repository.
Now I want to use the centosplus repository for Centos 4 to get the
latest LAMP, mod_perl, perl and other perl modules so that I can install
rt 3.6.6 and its necessary modules.
However, for some reason, the latest perl package in the centosplus
repository does not appear on the radar when

Yum updates packages for other arch too
Hi,
I have the x86_64 arch on my server so therfore i expect that yum
updates only x86_64 packages.
With the last *yum update* i?ve noticed a strange behaviour while
retrieving the needed packeges. As you you see, yum wants install
packages for different architectures:
glibc x86_64 2.3.4-2.25 base 4.9 M
glibc i686 2.3.4-2.25 base 5.1 M

Problems with yum not updating properly
Has anyone else seen this?
I recently got the announcement about the xorg 1.5 update being available,
so I ran yum update to get it.
To my surprise, I found that yum did not see it at all.
With some help from Karanbir (thanks again), we decided there might be
something wrong with my repo path, so I checked it against the older one I
had from 5.0 (which I saved, for some reason) and found that

need advise on protect base and priorities plugin
Hi,
Is it not ok to use both plugins at the same time? I have read from the wiki page of centos that you must use only either protect base or priorities plugin. I have been using the the config file below for months and did not encounter any problems. I used priority=1 and protect=1 on base and updates (addons, extras protect=1 ; set no priorities) for the CentOS-Base repo and on the rpmforge

Why not use yum mirrorlist= instead of baseurl= in CentOS-Base.repo
Currently the default yum configuration references mirror.centos.org.
When yum looks up the IP address it finds several but it will only try
one and fail if that server is down or does not have the headers for
whatever reason.
If yum were to reference a mirrorlist it would skip servers that fail
and keep trying them all until it finds one that works or exhausts all
the mirrors. Centos would
