[PLUGIN] rspec_resource_generator - RESTful scaffold generator with RSpec specifications
rspec_resource_generator
========================
By Pat Maddox
Use this generator to generate RESTful scaffolding with RSpec specifications.
Syntax is exactly the same as the scaffold_resource generator:
./script/generate rspec_resource ModelName [field:type field:type]
When you run this generator, it will create a migration, model, and
model spec file. In addition, it gives you a RESTful

RSpec''d plugin in a non-RSpec rails app?
I have a plugin that uses RSpec, and it''s being used by a Rails app that
does not otherwise use RSpec (and does not want to).
I can install the RSpec gem, but of course there is no RSpec-on-Rails
gem. And I wouldn''t really want to include the whole rspec-on-rails
plugin inside my plugin, even if such a thing would work. Yet it would
be nice if the app''s continuous

How to write a plugin that uses rspec internally?
My team is working on a plugin and we want to use RSpec internally for the
plugin''s tests.
(a) What are some different ways to go about this? Should we rely on the
RSpec gem? Should we expect that the "host" Rails application has installed
the RSpec plugins? Are there other options?
(b) Which approach from (a) would you recommend?
(c) Would you recommend any particular

AutoTest plugin and rspec for rails
(WinXP)
Hi,
I have the autotest rails plugin running - detecting changes and running the
examples.
However the rspec color output (of which I am a fan) ... has stopped
happening
Anybody got a spare moment to point me in the right direction, please ?
Cheers!

Having trouble installing the Rails plugin with Rspec 0.7.5
Hi,
I''m running Rails 1.1.6 and just installed RSpec 0.7.5. When I try to
install the appropriate Rails plugin, it just says that "Export Complete"
and doesn''t install anything to vendor. I can do it with older version, but
then it''s not compatible with RSpec. Any ideas?

annotate_models plugin to annotate RSpec specs and fixture
I have found useful to have the table information associated to models
disp?ayed in the models and fixtures files of my rails applications.
If you want to add this information to the spec_fixtures and specs add
the following patch to your plugin.
Index: vendor/plugins/annotate_models/lib/annotate_models.rb

"Plugin not found" after RSpec install
I tried to install the RSpec Rails plugin as described here:
http://rspec.info/documentation/rails/install.html
After I run this...
ruby script/plugin install http://rspec.rubyforge.org/svn/tags/CURRENT/rspec
At the very end after a lot of output I get this error:
Plugin not found: ["http://rspec.rubyforge.org/svn/tags/CURRENT/
rspec"]
It looks as though it actually was installed

Rspec and acl_system2 plugin
Hello,
I''m trying to spec a Rails application using the couple
restful_authentication/acl_system2 plugins.
In my admin layout, I put the following code :
<% restrict_to "admin" do -%>
<ul id="admin-tabs">
<li> /users Users management </li>
</ul>
<% end -%>
Then in my spec file

RSpec and resource_controller plugin
I just discovered James Golick''s resource_controller plugin
http://jamesgolick.com/resource_controller after spending another
stretch of boredom making the changes to nest yet another rails
resource controller. I''d actually slowed down this time to think
about what I was doing in hopes of automating the task.
I''ve tended to use script/generate rspec_scaffold to get

Using rspec and mocha
I prefer to use rspec than test::unit for developing my apps. However
I''ve found its mocking library to be pretty inflexible compared to
Mocha. This isn''t really a surprise since rspec isn''t intended as a
mocking framework, whereas Mocha is. So I''d like to play to both of
their strengths and use rspec as my testing/specification framework

Sharing: dont_repeat_yourself plugin custom RSpec matcher
I wrote a Rails plugin which uses simian to look for duplicates lines in your
code and reports in html format, Textmate or Netbeans.
I wrote it using RSpec and I have included a RSpec custom matcher:
it { rails_application.
with_threshold_of_duplicate_lines(4).
should be_DRY }
If you use Autotest, your specs will fail the next time you do a nasty
copy-paste !!!

rspec-1.3.1.rc and rspec-rails-1.3.3.rc are released!
rspec-1.3.1.rc and rspec-rails-1.3.3.rc are released!
These are release candidate gems for updates 1.x series, including some bug fixes and deprecation warnings for functionality that will be removed in rspec-2.
Barring unexpected complications, I''ll release final versions of these gems within the next week.

Something cool I learned about rspec today
I found an awesome feature today. When you''re setting expectations,
you can actually pattern match the parameters to methods. Here''s my
discussion and example:

installing rspec/rspec_on_rails as system wide generator (or similar)
Hi all,
What would be the best/easiest way of installing rspec as a system
wide generator so I''m not having to download it or ./script/plugin
install it every time?
Thanks,
Alastair

Problem with RSpec and Mocha/Stubba
I''ve recently upgraded to the latest versions of Mocha and RSpec
(0.3.2 and 0.6.3 respectively) and I''m no longer able to use Mocha/
Stubba with RSpec. Its actually only Stubba I''m interested in as I
use RSpec''s built-in mocking library.
I require stubba in my spec file but whenever I try and run my spec
it fails with the error:
